Best island/hotel for snorkeling

We are planning a short 5 day trip to relax and snorkel. From initial research it looks like the options are Eleuthera and Abacos. Also we normally prefer Airbnb self serve off the beaten path but this time around are looking for more luxurious accommodations, with a great pool and ideally access to the beach. I’ve heard mixed things about kamalame cay but are there options that are similar - ie not a giant all inclusive resort on paradise island but rather a quieter option?

For luxurious and off the beaten path, you can't go wrong with Fowl Cay in the Exuma Cays. Snorkelling is amazing, and right on the doorstep of the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, it's a completely "no take" zone, so the place is teeming with fish and sealife. While a bit pricey, it's worth every penny! You can also have the best of both worlds -- a villa with all the amenities of the resort. It's small, so "resort" is the wrong word, but it does offer a fair bit of options.

You can fly in to Staniel Cay via Watermakers from Fort Lauderdale, or in to Nassau, then Flamingo Air from there. Fowl Cay will come and collect you for the 3 or so mile trip over to their private cay. And can arrange for snorkelling trips, or if you prefer, your own boat to explore on your own.
