New to Trinadad

What are the must do activities (considering an early November trip) and are there any safety concerns (crime, political unrest)? Thanks for any highlights!

Do you know where you will be staying? And will you be visiting alone?

No plans yet. Open to suggestions. Definitely a condo or house, not hotel. With husband. Love beachfront places and like to hike.

The only beachfront place with nice water in Trinidad is at Maracas on the North Coast. The hotel is the Maracas Bay Hotel. For more choices you have to go to the sister island of Tobago. Read the Tobago forum to see what places are popular with visitors.

When it comes to hiking I would not recommend you two doing it alone. Go with a group or a local tour guide.

For your time in Trinidad try to include a visit to the Yerrette Hummingbird Sanctuary:

It is the rainy season so some days will not be good for beach or hikes.

Tobago for beaches.
