Christmas Vacation

Hi Everyone--Tripadvisors are always so helpful, so thought I'd start here. Thinking about a Christmas vacation with our 20 and 25 year olds. Seems like there are so many wonderful areas in Puerto Rico I don't know where to begin. Hotel vs. condo, locations, activities etc. Kids are adventurous and don't want to spend a week laying on the beach. Would like jet skis, hiking, snorkeling, zip lining, deep sea fishing as options. Fajardo, Rincon, San Juan???? Any help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

All the above. First, Christmas is a big deal. Family reunion time for all the split families. Everything will be full, Holiday rates on all hotels and look now for a condo, they are already booking up. If the kids need activities like you are asking about, then San Juan or Fajardo. Rincon is more laid back. Great beaches, snorkeling, surfing etc. San Juan is the city with all the activities. Clubs, Casinos, Old San Juan and you are close enough to get to the Rain Forest to hike, Zip lines etc. The El Conquistador in Fajardo is a self contained resort with all of the above (well not zip lines), it even has a water park. Fajardo has things to do,, but if they get board, you would want to be at the resort. Being they are young, then driving would be an issue, you know those rental car companies charge like $25 day extra for someone under 25. Advantges of a condo, cost of food. Resorts are expensive. BBQ is is a great option. Parking at resorts is $15 - 20 a day. Free at a condo. So I suggest and these are my personal opinions. San Juan in a Hotel or Condo. El Conquistador in Fajardo or a condo anywhere and you drive every place. Condo will be the most cost effective.

There are plenty of "adventure" things to do in the north-east of the island including hiking, ziplining, hang-gliding, kayaking, the biobay, beaches, clubs in Old San Juan, etc.

Take a look at our DIY vacation planner -- www.PuertoRicoDayTrips.com -- for some ideas.

There are also plenty of places to stay ... from major resorts to hotels to condos to private vacation rentals.
