Majestic Elegance vs Majestic Colonial

Hi there,

Having a bit of an issue understanding the differences here. Can someone assist?

The way I understand it, the Elegance is next door to the Colonial. The Elegance is adults only and all suites with private pools, bars and beach area. Guest at the Elegance have access to all the services of the Colonial as well.

Does this sound correct?

Thanks for any assistance.

Not really. Only part of the E. is adult only, and definately not all suites (not what you would normally call a suite despite the room names). The rooms and resorts are basically the same, with the E. being a few years newer. They share the disco and casino, but nothing else. Each has it's own pool, restaurants, bars, etc. with no cross sharing. I was at the C. in March and loved it. But I would have been very happy at the E. as well.

Thanks, I did a bit more research and discovered that the adults only part of the Elegance is the "club level" and requires additional money.

Anyone pay the extra for the Club level and feel it was/wasn't worth it? We recently stayed in the Riviera Maya at the Catalonia Royal Tulum, and although it's a bit older property we loved it and really like the adults only aspect. We were going to look at Catalonia properties here in PC but came across the Majestic and were interested. Here is the blurb about what the club service includes:

The Majestic Elegance Club introduces the New Majestic Supreme Service, a variety of upgraded amenities exclusive for guests staying at the Ocean Front Beach Towers, such as: Two private swimming pools, Private beach area with 'Bali style' beds, Private and personalized check-in, 2 private ocean front roof top bars, VIP Lounge at the lobby with library, table games and free Internet connection, 24-hour Room Service, In room bar selection with up to 4 bottles of liqueur per stay (Vodka, Whisky, Rum, Baileys), Bottle of champagne in room upon arrival, Butler service, Surprise gift in room, In room beach towels, Pillow menu, Aromatherapy for pillows, Robes and sleepers in room, Bath Kit, DVD's selection, Majestic Touch during the stay, Espresso machine in room (suites only).

Thanks for any help.

Cheers,

Jay

Jay, I saw elsewhere that you booked the Club. We did and didn't regret it. Access to the lounges alone was worth it for us...cold drinks, snacks all day, breakfast next to the beach, Internet access, and cleaner bathrooms. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks snlady.

We're pretty excited. Do you know if there is pool and beach service for drinks? Not that I have an issue dragging my butt out of my beach chair to get a drink, we just got spoiled at the last AI we were at. Didn't know about the washrooms, are there ones specific to the club level? We were thinking the two roof top lounges that overlook the beach would be pretty nice in the evening. As I understand, you also get access to the “Il Botaccio” restaurant for breakfast and lunch a la carte. I guess the only other options for breakfast and lunch are the buffet? I also understand the dress code applies for breakfast and lunch at the II Botaccio? That might not work, as directly after breakfast we head to the beach. Did you get the 4 bottles of liqueur? We were thinking 4 bailies to go with coffee.

And last question, which building did you stay, Elle or Ella? Any preference?

Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Jay,

Yes there is pool and beach service for drinks at the club. There are also washrooms in the lounge which is nice and close to the beach. You do get access to Il Botaccio but we didn't bother as we spent most of our day at the beach and it is in the front lobby. We did get 4 bottles in our room, bailies, vodka, scotch and rum. We stayed in ella but elle is closer to the private beach.

I'll echo pretty much everything sdaj1993 said...we never went to Il Botaccio for breakfast or lunch, as we were at the beach for most of the day. The See & Sea restaurant is next to the beach. It serves breakfast from 10 a.m. and a lunch buffet. The lounges have a cold breakfast spread from about 7 or 8 a.m. on, so I had breakfast there a few times. The lounge is sort of below the rooftop patio, so you can take your breakfast up there, or eat it on the patio or take it to the beach.

There is pool and beach service for drinks, but there are so many bars that it's no trouble to get up for drinks every now and again. The washrooms adjacent to the club lounges are just one of those little things I appreciated. They're quite clean and have toilet tissue long after the "public" ones run out.

Actually, the only bottle we opened was the "Baileys" (it's actually Molly's), and it was nice to have it in my coffee after I was in for the night. You also get a bottle of sparkling wine and 2 flutes...a nice touch for bubble bath night.

We stayed in ella too, but the resort is so compact, I didn't really notice the walk to the private beach.

You'll have a great time!
