Hello, we are scheduled to land 12:07 pm on Saturday terminal B. We have VIP reserved but wondering if it’s worth the $200.

How crowded has terminal b been at

That time?

Wondering if I should keep or cancel?

The VIP in terminal a seems a bit better with a golf cart and lounge.

Saturday afternoon is typically fairly busy but I for one would not pay for VIP as I have not had serious waiting times in many trips. Terminal B runs pretty smoothly but it is difficult to predict exact number of flights arriving at same time, although you can have a look at the flight schedule to give you an idea. Some still prefer to use VIP service and avoid potential delays. As long as you have private transportation waiting for you on the other side, you may feel it is worth the added cost.

We flew through terminal B 4 weeks ago and walked right through. There was a long wait at baggage. We got out quicker than the VIP guests. Departing terminal b was very quick.

I've been to Punta Cana 15 times in the past 10 years...Never paid for VIP on arrival. I personally don't see a need, especially in these COVID times. The past 2 times I've been to PC, I flew through the airport and I had checked bags. It was a total of 15 -25 min from the plane to my transportation.

In my personal experience, your landing time of noon is absolutely fine, especially since you are landing at Terminal B. Terminal B has less traffic than Terminal A and is mostly always smooth sailing. I usually land at Terminal A. I like taking the early flights for this reason. I try to get to PUJ before 1 pm. I usually land from 11 am to noon. From 1 pm to 4 pm, this is what is normal peak times. Pre-COVID, if you were landing around 2 -closer to 3 at Terminal A - I would say look into buying VIP.

The last time I was in PC (Valentine's Day/President's Day week) - I landed at 1 pm...Took me 20 min from the plane to my transportation again with checked bags. It's off-peak season now.

Did it about a year and a half ago, because I was doing a four-day trip solo. I don’t know that I would do it for a family because I think it adds up really quick and if I was going longer I probably wouldn’t have done it. I am not really sure I saved any time

My hubbie and I are considering using VIP, and I have handicap assistance, which makes the process quicker. We went in October 2020. The people that are not fast tracked experienced long lines without social distancing. Me, not so much. It was an arrival between noon and 1:00 on a Saturday. However, this time, due to my recent diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis, I am on immuno suppressant medication, making me a Covid target. Yes, I am vaxed. I am thinking less exposure with VIP, but who knows. We fly AA, so it is Terminal B.

We know we will not do it when we depart. Again, I have handicap access. I figure, I don't want to get anything and be stuck in PC. But, if I get anything on our way home, I have access to my medical specialists. Yes, I know, our decision making process is scattered. 🙂

The price is a huge factor in our decision making process.

Good luck and have an outstanding vacation.

Thanks so much for the input. I think I will cancel and take our chances.

@prize, sorry to hear about your health issues. Stay well! I remember you from years ago on the Cancun forums.

So I put in the request for VIP for our November trip about 5 days ago and not heard back if we have a reservation yet for our party of 2 sr. citizens. How long does it usually take for a reservation confirmation ?

From what I’ve been reading one of two things will happen - if they have space you hear back within a couple of days. If they’re full already they just kind of sit on it till they decide if they can work you in

Just a little update. Landed a little early. Walk up at immigration….only 5 people in front of us. Took a minute.

Bags were the longest wait.

Customs line was pretty long. About 5 minutes or so into it, they began letting American airline passengers go right through. We just walked out.

This was super fast and simple. Glad we cancelled VIP.

(Having a blast at Live aqua!)

Thanks for the update. How is LiveAqua? Actually considering it for my next trip. Is it fairly lively?
