I am getting concerned about our February trip from reading many reviews that mention some were not wearing masks indoors. It would appear it’s not strictly enforced. Being older and retired it’s risky for us to be exposed to covid. Temperature checks are good but not fool proof. I do hope the authorities take a hard line on this. I will be monitoring reviews for the next two months and would also appreciate input from this forum. Hopefully it will be 100% enforced or we will have to cancel.

Where are you staying? Sadly 100% rule enforcement doesn't happen in Ontario, hard to expect it in PC. However, Resorts do a very good job but the staff can't control all the guests unfortunately. You will have to decide if it's worth it for you and how safe you feel by going on a trip. For me, the airports and the flights were a bigger concern and I felt pretty safe throughout.

Riu Palace Macau, adults only. From reading many other hotel reviews some of the adult only are closed and people have to go into an adjoining hotel with families. I love kids but not on vacation. This of course could change by February. I only shop once a week and the store I go to has a strict mask enforcement policy. I do think that staff can enforce the rule. I liked the rule on the cruise line out of Italy, no wandering off the ship on your own. The ones that abused the policy had to pack their bags Immediately and find their own way home.

This may not be the safest time for you to travel. You have to decide what is best for you.

Thank you BobK! I do note from some reviews, a Melia one in particular , that they are very strict, mask wearing at all times indoors. If I had full confidence that mask wearing was enforced it would make a difference. My feeling is if you let one big, loud, bully get away with not wearing a mask, others will think it’s okay to do the same. If Hotel security are too weak to control it, they should call the police. I will give it more time to see how it’s handled.

Of note Tom, there are many adults only resorts open with more coming. Hyatt Zilara, SCC, SRB, Ambar, EEC, Breathless etc... may be worth seeing the different protocols in place at some of those. One thing I noticed is that kids were the ones running around without masks in a lot of cases. I spent most of my time away from kids at the Hideaway section. Going to an adults only resort may be best.

Thanks Sly, we are looking at doing just one trip, adults only, this winter but at three weeks longer than a usual trip. I will have a look again at what you suggested but concerned they may be too pricy. We book our air and hotel separately to cut out the middle man.

Call the police for what? Police have absolutely no say in a private company's policies.

I would be more impressed with a resort if they took a stance against said "bully" who refuses to wear a mask indoors. Simply have management shut off his room card and have security escort them off the property. Would get more positive news for being so diligent with their covid protocols, than 1 angry review lol.
