There are mosquitos found year round but mostly just a few at night. I live out in the country and am hardly ever bothered. At the resorts, they spray regularly so there probably won't be many found. I would just take any kind of regular repellent and use it if you need it.

It depends on where you stay. The AI resorts spray often. Bring something with Deet and when returning from the beach do not put your towels on the beds, sand fleas travel well.

I would never go to any island in the Caribbean at any time of year without insect repellent. Better safe than sorry!

Year round but not a problem. Use repellent with at least 25% DEET and you will be fine.

You'll deffinately get mosquitos, not sure if you can get it in the uk but johnsons has mosquito repellent its a green bottle and is the best thing I've come across, if you do get bitten have a small tub of vicks menthol rub, dominicans swear by it, money wise change your pounds into dollars you'll need 10usd per person when you enter the country, malaria tablets speak to your doctor

Dixie252, you've turned a mosquito post into more questions.

Do you need malarial pills? No, the D.R. is not a malarial zone, but if coming from the UK you probably will be told to take them. Check with your insurance carrier.

Currency question: depends on where you are going. If you stay in PC, dollars are accepted, anywhere else you are better off with Pesos, the Dominican currency. BP are easy to change into Pesos.
