One day in Dominica for group in mid 50's

We are a group of 6 aged 55-62 and will be in Dominica for one day off the Windsurd in january. Between us we have some knee and back problems so nothing too strenuous. We would like recommendations on tours. While Champagne beach snorkle trips sound like fun we have a full day in Dominica and would like to get a flavor for the island. We like easy hiking trips if the scenery is worth the time , wildlife, waterfalls. Recommendations appreciated.

We're going to consider Donaldson Nature Isle Explorers. They have about three good options for what you are looking for.

You could contact Autop Taxi & Tours. They offer great options and reasonable prices for day tours.

We contracted with Reyno Tours for a private tour of the island. We were met and set up in a van with a driver whose name I was never quite sure of. He was very informative and an excellent driver and mostly a good guide. We started at Champagne Beach and then went to Titou Gorge, the Botanical Gardens (brief but very interesting stop), and Trafalger Falls. The guide was with us from about 10-4:00 so it was a very full day. Domenica is a very interesting and beautiful island but defitiely one you should do with a guide. The roads are confusing and mostly unmarked and it would be easy to get lost.

My only criticism is that the guide did not have a swimsuit and left us to our own devices at the beach and gorge. This could have had serious consequesces. One person in our party did not go in the water at all and none of us went all the way into the gorge. Getting out of Champagne beach was very rouch and hazardpus and if not for two strong helpful guides from another group it would have been extremely difficult because of very rouch water, large boulders, and no flat area to stand. So when you go make sure you ask in advance for the guide to be with you the entire time, especially in the water!
