Dental Work, Root canal in Cuba

I am wondering if any one can give me tips on how to book a dental appointment in Cuba for a root canal.

What's the cost and is it possible to have it done in Varadero, or would it be better in a larger City?

I'm planning to go there in February. 2009

Don't do it. My girlfriend has 4 crowns done in Mexico at a very reputable dentist. Has had to have 2 redone 1 year later. Won't trust anyone outside of Canada if I didn't have to. Emergency only.

If you decide to give it a try I would pick Havana. There is a long lasting experience in a couple of clinics within the City specially designed to those effects.

Can't compare Mexico to Cuba in terms of health care and dentists. Cubans are so highly skilled and well educated that they are probably even better than our dentists in Canada.

I had an extensive dental job done in Havana, Including three crowns, a year and a half latter absolutly no problems, and the price was a fraction of what it would have cost me in Canada.

Seems to be a very popular trend for folks who don't have a dental plan through their work.

And with thousands of people getting laid off from their jobs these days the dentist in Cuba better get ready to become very busy.

If I end up loosing my job I will not hesitate to visit a Cuban dentist which someone has had good results with.

I am curious:

Will anyone be able to tell me how much would it be a computerized panoramic X-ray of all your maxillaries (re: superior & inferior); and then the consultation with the best specialist to interpret and provide a diagnostic in Canada? Just curious.

With out going into detail the very good and profesional dentist at The University oh Havana I saw suggested that due to complications I was unaware of surgery was needed and it would be in my best interests to have it done in Canada where health care would cover it.

As has been stated you can not compare Cuba to Mexico in this context.

I was rather surprised by the price when I thought I might need to have a tooth extraction in Cuba about 12 days ago. I was quoted 55 CUC's by the Dentist at the International Clinic in Guardalavaca for a back tooth extraction on the top side of my mouth.

I think the price made my toothache disappear, so I didn't need to avail myself of the service.

Not sure how much it would cost in the UK nowadays, but I don't think it would be as expensive as that.
