water sports in tanjung

Hi fellow TA's

Have two kids aged 6 & 8. We will be staying at the novotel in Oct. Just wondering which of the water sports are recommended for their age group. We are considering banana boat and/or snorkeling. is their any particular company youd recommend/avoid? And what is the going rate for these activities? also, do any of the hotels nearby offer canoeing or the like? Thanks in advance :)

I would recommend wibisana watersports! They were great- we did banana boat, flying fish and donut boat along with transfers from kuta for $50 each- not too bad at all!

We're planning on going with Jet Set Dive. They look very professionally run and safe. Will see what happens when we get to the Novotel in July though.

Have you been to Benoa before? The beach is a crazy mosaic of banana boats, speed boats, jet skis, parasailing behind boats and flying fish all jockeying for space with no apparent rules of right of way. I have never seen an accident but it does look scary. We stay at the Grand Mirage a short distance away from your hotel and gather that not all the beach sport operators carry insurance. Don't leave home without it and read the fine print to see what activities are covered. The Novotel may have kayaks for using in the roped off swimming area which would be a lot safer for your children. Our hotel has catamarans too which you cannot use without a member of the beach sports team accompanying you despite my husband's nearly 60 years of experience but we realise that it is probably better to have one rule for all. We are going in July too

Hi Ah2relax,

We have kids very similar in age to yours and also choose to stay at the Novotel in Benoa. We will be there again in 14 days........for our sixth stay.

So far, our kids have done the banana boat and the Flying Fish rides; they loved it. Not sure if there are less desirable Companies than others, but they are all pretty much offering the same services and same prices.

Apparently Jet Set Dive take you away from all the commotion, to an area that's only used by them? I thought this was a great way to hopefully reduce any accidents that might happen with lots of people doing lots of things in the one place.

Yea , I am agree with townsville . There are many company around the area and all of them will offer you a same price and service , you can choose one of them , perhaps for the best price you will need to do a bargining and ask the the best discount price , they are wellcome for it .
