What do we need to see?

We are staying at a KOA in Port Angeles and would love to see what Olympic National Park has to offer.

We would like to go to the Hurricane Ridge area and also see some waterfalls if possible.

We will be driving to Forks the following day and hope to check out the Hoh Rainforest the next day so we will have one full day to explore the north east area. What should we make sure to see?

We will have 3 children with us but would love some shorter hikes.

Thanks!!

Hopefully this trip is before Labor Day. The Hoh will not be accessible after that. Madison Falls in the Elwha Valley is a very short walk from the parking lot. Marrymere Falls is a pretty easy walk through Old Growth Forest along Lake Crecent. There are road construction delays along the Lake. On your way to Forks if you feel that you have the time drive to the end of the SolDuc Valley and take another beautiful forest walk to Beautiful SolDuc Falls. It is less than a mile from the parking lot to the Falls and Gorge. Try and visit Rialto Beach before or after the Hoh.

My youngest can do as much as the other 2 kids...not worried about her at all.

Thank you for your suggestions of where to go and see. Is there a map online of where these things are? I'm having a hard time visualizing.

Yes, our trip will be in July.

Go to the park website and also GoogleMaps. The latter will help you estimate distances, but add 20% to its estimates for everything around ONP. GM is routinely optimistic in this region. July will feature crowded roads, and all the roads are two lane affairs with very limited passing.

I still don't know how much hiking your kids can do, as your response was in relative, not absolute, terms. I will toss out the Hoh River Trail hike to Tom's Meadow, a beautiful spot. The hike is 6 miles round trip and easy, with little elevation gain.

4 Miles would be the max for hiking all at once. Thanks for the info!

In that case, do the Spruce Nature Trail and the Hall of Mosses. All the hikes Glaciermeadows suggested will work, too.
