Hidden lake in June

Does anyone know the usual or current conditions for cascade pass and hidden lake? We’re going to be in NCNP in 3 weeks and we’re trying to prepare.

Hi

The WashingtonTrailsAssociation website www.WTA.org is a good resource for trip reports.

Cascade Pass: www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/cascade-pass

Do you mean the formerly lovely Hidden Lakes in the Pasayten where there were forest fires last year? Or the Hidden Lake Lookout snowy trail?

Neither of these trails are typically snow free and safe until mid July. You need snow travel skills, an ice axe and traction devices before then. You can read trip reports from a year ago on wta.org to get an idea. I briefly pulled these up and here is what you can expect--the first is from July 1 last year at HIdden Lk and we have more snow this year. The second is from someone that underestimated conditions and ended up having to be rescued.

Also, the road to the Cascade Pass trailhead may not be fully open yet. Early season you need to walk to the end. Typical conditions late June:

Thank you! I was asking about the hidden lake lookout trail. Just getting as much information as I can do I’m prepared to go.
