Driving instead of the train!

We did the Grand Canyon Railway last year as we stayed at the RV Park onsite. This year although sill staying on the same site, we are thinking of driving into the canyon.

Does driving take you into the same area or different? We aren't overly fussed about returning, we are just passing that way for a couple of nights so are considering it as we have someone with us that has never been.

With a car you can access the entire eastern rim viewpoints between the train station and Desert View. That’s about 20 miles and twice whatever you saw on your previous visit.

Those viewpoints along the drive to Desert View are spectacular, as is the view from the tower at Desert View. Very different from the views you had near the village (which are also fantastic).

Thanks, that's great to hear, we love a good view point. We are in an RV so driving in with that, don't necessarily need to stop much, just thought we would while in the area.

We actually found the train rather boring and we were squeezed for time, so we didn't get to see or do much!

There are enough parking spaces even for RV's on the road to Desert View.
