Driving from Escalante to Sedona via GCNP in a day

We are doing a whistlestop road trip and hope to do the above.

Can anyone advise the route that will include scenery a good view of the canyon or two and to end up in Sedona please? Or are we totally bonkers attempting this in a day??

Thanks in advance :)

I would have to say "bonkers." If Escalante UT, it is 5-6 hours or more just to Grand Canyon east entrance. You need at least a few hours at GCNP to appreciate anything. Then 2 hours to Sedona.

Not a trip I would want to make. Try to make an overnight stay at GCNP.

Tusayan: hotels in the village just outside the park (use travel site or TA)

Cameron near east entrance: Cameron Trading Post has a hotel

nps.gov/grca/ park website for park information

Park lodges book up to a year in advance. Sometimes cancellations happen in park lodging and don't appear quickly on the website. If no availability on the website, call often and ask about availability. The park no longer produces a newsletter. Information about programs, shuttles, overlooks, etc. can be found on the park website. GCNP South Rim is very self-touring.

Agreeing that bonkers is a good term in this case. One does not stop for a quick look at the Grand Canyon National Park. Even the rip off tours from LV include a minimum of 3 hours at the park.

The most direct route from Escalante to Sedona would require a 1-2 hour detour just to get to and from the Grand Canyon National Park plus time at Desert View and any other stops.

If you want to see the Grand Canyon, plan it as an overnight stop on the way to Sedona.

I don't think this is a good idea.

If you insist, this is what I recommend...

If you can't do the whole drive in the daylight, don't do it. Driving at night in this area, on these kinds of roads is not recommended.
