Mirissa in December

We are planning to visit in December over Christmas with our two children (11 and 14). We are trying to decide on the best area for us to stay. We are looking at Mirissa because my husband surfs and i love the idea of the beach cove with restaurants along the beach. But we are worried about the reviews we have read lately about Mirissa being a party town with booming music all night long. Can anyone comment on this? Is Mirissa at Christmas time better suited for young partyers? Should we book at Tangalle or Bentota instead? Any advise would be appreciated!:)

Miriisa is a tiny nice beach where little crowded these days & better location for "SURFING". No doubt.

Many beach restaurants & hotels opened recently there.

But I would like to propose you, 31 night is very beautifully celebrating & Hikkaduwa beach area.

Mirissa - Hikka is travel 1 hour

Thank you. Do you mean Mirissa is going to be a LITTLE crowded at this time or very crowded and not good for a family? Isn't Hikka also very crowded and more of a party place as well?

Hikka south is less crowded than Mirissa, Hikka centre and north beach are fare more crowded than it. If it's about surf then maybe indeed south Hikka (Narigama) fits better.

All the best,

@jdizzle40. Not only Mirissa and Hikka all the beaches on southern coast going to be so crowded over christmas.

As you plan go for Mirissa. Find a place you could stay away from all that hassle and buzzle. There are plenty of hotels situated just inland from Mirissa you won't hear any noise at all also just 5 minutes walking distance to the beach if you need some party time.

Send me a PM if you need few suggestions of places to stay.

All the best !
