Overnight stopover in Johannesburg

Hi,

We arrive in Johannesburg at about 430 pm and leave next morning for Victoria Falls.

Any hotel recommendations?

Would like something nice and I am not sure where the airport is in relation to the town..

Many thanks in advance.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu and it was ideal as you can get the train from the airport to Gautrain station and it's across the street and only a 2 minute walk to the shopping mall.

most shuttle services can get you to your hotel in 30-45minutes and the same for return. feel free to stay in the more popular area's like melrose arch; rosebank and sandton. alternatively stay close to the gautrain stations(a high speed train which can get you to the airport in 30mins), choose the radisson gautrain; the hyatt rosebank; the holiday inn rosebank for ease of access to the stations

I echo Gavin's advice. I have stayed at all of the hotels on the airport grounds and I would honestly say that you can choose by price, and get your money's worth. The Intercontinental is the best and rather expensive.. I use the City Lodge at the airport and the Peermont hotels for my clients. The Peermont group all serve the large casino, shopping, food complex there.. so that offers a little diversion to pass the time.

hi, i can recommend the Airport grand hotel, which is very close to the airport, is very reasonably priced, upmarket and runs a shuttle service every half hour. this saves you the cost of a Gautrain ticket or taxi to way out somewhere.

Be aware that Soulfusion is a long long long way from the airport. To link up with the Gautrain from the Airport have a look at the selection available on www.sandtonexclusie.com

Can't beat the Gautrain into Sandton, spend the night in any of the many hotels (choosing one within your budget) and then hop on train back to airport.

Then you'll at least have options for a nice meal in one of the restaurants and walk around Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square in the evening, rather than just stuck in an airport hotel.
