Hi becks, we stayed in hummingbird 2 in February 2013. The accommodation is of a very good standard and in a wonderful location. There is a great restaurant that is part of Castara Retreats, as well as several places to eat in the village. The coffee shop is a great place for breakfast and is much more than just a coffee shop! I would also recommend Marguerittes, The Beach house and the Boathouse. Castara is a small village, not a tourist hub,. It is a lovely unspoilt paradise with friendy and welcoming villagers. We hired a car from Porridge and explored the island. And the trip to the Nylon Pool was fantastic!

We have done a few reviews on different places we visited in Tobago. If you want to know anything else feel free to drop us a line!

Oh and we're not jealous at all!!!! Lol

Hi Becks

Castara is a fab place but as per other reply, don't expect a commercial centre. You can walk the entire village in 15 - 20 minutes and that's not rushing! Coffee shop at the bottom of the hill do great breakfasts and Cascreole and Boat House (opposite ends of beach) are great bars/restaurants.

There is a good gift shop (Sasea's) by the ATM, other than that, just a couple of mini-markets. Make sure you find about the local bread-baking (Wednesdays and Saturdays) and try out the 'Pone'!!

Re tours, we used Alibabas (far end of the bay) who were superb - we did the boat trips out to Nylon Pool with BBQ and also the Rainforest/Argyle Fall trip with Jackson, who was an absolute goldmine of information.

Anyway, have a fabulous time

Curious as to money exchange ! Rather than convert CAD to USD what's your thoughts of converting straight to TTD's in Canada

Why pay the banks more than we all already do!

Everywhere takes TT$.

Check with your local bank / credit card supplier and tell them where you are going .

Then if you draw money from an ATM it will not be flagged up as an unusual, possibly fraudulent, transaction.
