Belgian F1 2015

I am planning to attend the 2015 Belgian F1 (21-23 Aug) and am unsure of the best place to stay. Right now I am looking into accommodation options in Maastricht and there seems to be plenty.

Does anyone know of the best way to get from Maastricht to Spa? Or can anyone recommend a better place to stay?

Thanks!

To answer your exact question, from Maastricht it takes 2h22 by train to Spa, changing in Liège and Pepinster. If you would be driving, see www.viamichelin.com for best route. However, the racetrack isn't in Spa, it's in Francorchamps, as you presumably know given the forum you placed this in (see http://www.spa-francorchamps.be/en/access-train-bus.php?lg=en).

So if staying in Maastricht and using public transport, you don't want to go to Spa but either by train to Verviers Central (1h11, also changing at Liège-Guillemins) or possibly by TEC bus 78 from Maastricht station to Liège (1 hr, https:/… - http://www.grenstreinbus.be/bus/verbinding.php?provincie=-3&id=23) then train to Verviers (18-31 mins, so total bus + train up to 2 hrs); and in both cases, TEC bus 294/395, taking about 45 mins from Verviers Central to FRANCORCHAMPS - Hotel Rohenval (closest to La Source gate); FRANCORCHAMPS - Route de Fagnou (on Route du Circuit - N62 - closest to the Ster gate) or BURNENVILLE Chemin de Meiz (on Route de Spa - N62) - closest to the Combes gate). You can click on each of the stops on e.g. infotec.be/Medeplacer/Horaires/Ligne.aspx… for map of the area where the stop is located (then "Elargir la carte").

If not driving, it would of course be best to stay as close as possible to somewhere within easy reach of Francorchamps by public transport, e.g. Verviers, Malmédy, Stavelot (all on the 294/395 bus routes) - or possibly Liège.

FYI some previous posters have complained that it is difficult to get to/find the buses for the return journey, and someone who had had to resort to a taxi said it cost €80+ from the racetrack to Verviers - quite a few years ago.
