http://www.voyages-sncf.com shows TER trains every couple of hours or so all day long from Bergerac to Siorac, most with a change at St-Cyprien or Le Buisson. Where are you getting your info, and how are you planning to get around once you land in Siorac?
you really, really need to have a car in this region.
What public transportation exists is scheduled solely for local workers and schoolchildren, so there are some buses in the morning and evening, a handful around lunchtime, and not much else.
Siorac has no public bus service at all. There is only the train.
There are only three buses a week leaving Bergerac going even vaguely in that general direction.
There is no public transport at Bergerac airport, so you would need a taxi into town and the station.
Trains that might be suitable from Bergerac to Soirac (winter timetable) from local regional railway website :
0931 Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays change at Le Buisson arrive 1042
1133 daily change at Le Buisson arrive 1320 but a 1 hour wait at Le Buisson, which is a dismal place.
Then nothing until
1731 Sundays and Holidays excepted change at Le Buisson arrive 1838.
The 0931 runs daily to Le Buisson but there is no connection to Siorac on weekdays. I don't know if there are any taxis at Le Buisson for the last few km to Siorac. However Le Buisson is a fully staffed station so there would be someone to ask.
But as the others have said, there are no buses in that area so without a car you cannot get anywhere much.
Many thanks for all the helpful replies.
Have booked airticket and arrive at Bergerac at 9.30am on a Tuesday, late July. I see there is an early train we shall miss and one at 5.24pm. A long time to wait. We are visiting family renting a house in Siorac and trying to avoid them travelling to Bergerac for our arrival and return, the Tuesday after.
So, no buses but a taxi to Bergerac town centre and then there are trains ? Will look further
Yes there are trains but only as I have listed. There is a train at 0933 to Le Buissson (no connection to Siorac on weekdays), then the next train is at 1133 from Bergerac to Le Buisson where you change for Siorac but there is a wait of almost an hour between trains. Siorac is only 4 miles / 7km from Le Buisson so perhaps your friends can pick you up from the train at Le Buisson.
In the return direction on a Tuesday there are two direct trains from Siorac to Bergerac at 0630 and 1729, arriving about an hour later. There are trains from Le Buisson to Bergerac at 0738, 0939, 1137, and1535 but no sensible connections from Siorac to make any of those.
You can see all these timetables on the Aquitaine regional railway site at http://www.ter-sncf.com/Regions/aquitaine/Fr/Se_deplacer_en_TER/Avant_mon_voyage/Fiches_horaires/Default.aspx
You will need ligne 26 Sarlat - Bordeaux and ligne 48 Agen - Périgueux
The annoying thing for you, and no doubt others, is that most of the trains between Le Buisson and Sarlat (from Bergerac) pass through Siorac without stopping.
Edited: 11 years agoThank you very much for all the information. Lots to think about so we shall look again at the timetables etc. next Spring to see if anything has changed and then make plans.
Happy Christmas.
