Wandered through there today and it appeared v quiet with very few sunbeds occupied (even by towels!).

Appreciate that many may have been out exploring the area (hopefully) or on safari but even allowing for that it seemed quiet.

Also spoke to a friend who is a member of staff at Whitesands who said that it was very quiet this week.

Not sure if this is just a lull this week or a more worrying trend.

Don't know anything about any redundancies as haven't asked the question.

They would have been pretty quick with the lay offs, because the North Coast was still packed last week mainly with Kenyan tourists. Whitesands now seems quiet by comparison to what it has been over the last 3 weeks as most of the locals have gone back upcountry but there still seem to be quite a few guests.

Purely from my perception of the volume of traffic on these forums it seems that more Brits are going to the South Coast these days, those forums seem to be busier than the North Coast ones.

because the [ popular] package companies are plugging the South Coast more than North with more hotels available at a reasonable cost ..
