Milwaukee. The least romantic city in America.

On a serious note: Interests? Budget? Time allocation? Those are the big three missing criteria.

Do you want a major city? Is London too far? Would San Francisco be a nice change of pace? Barcelona?

Would a smaller city in the US fit your budget better? How about New Orleans? Or Savannah?

Or a smaller city outside the US, something like San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, or Cartagena, Colombia, or, maybe, Ireland.

Nature? The northern tier national parks would still be too wintry, but if you want solitude, nature is a better option than a city. The Grand Canyon? The Florida Keys?

One thing I would avoid is a beach resort. Happy loving couple cavorting around in their happiness would be the proverbial salt in the wound. So I would say go Big and Congested, or go with Empty Solitude, depending on preference, and not really go anyplace in between those extremes.

Florida is probably do-able as spring breaks come to end.

Do you want a lounge around the beach and hang out at the pool bar type of vacation? Or do you want a vacation with active exploration (such as a city)?

For an All Inclusive on a beautiful beach and tropical foliage, with a combination of singles and couples (no kids), check out Club Med Turks and Caicos. One nice thing about this resort is that it is mostly larger shared communal tables in the dining room, and a hostess seats you, so no need to sit alone at a table for two.

A few places that come to mind are Sarasota, other towns on the Gulf side of Florida, Turks and Caicos, Grand Cayman.....all are low-key places you can get to fairly quickly from the east coast of the US, have lovely beaches and good food, and would let you just chill with a tropical drink and a visit to the spa. :)

Sorry about your breakup. It does get better! I hope you have a great and relaxing trip.
