Solo travel itinerary USA all the way to south america

Hi I'm really having this dream im setting in motion of doing a very big travel solo over the world, starting from UK>Ireland>Canada>USA>Mexico>Central america>South America>antartica/falkland>NZ>AUSSIE>southern asia>far east>south africa>norht africa>spain>egypt>jordan>uae and back to israel my hometown, now I'm focusing on the big chunk which is Central and Southerm america, for a proposed timeline of 6 months..

do you guys have good advice/websites for itinerary planning? id like to cross from SD to tijuana and then move down all the way to argentina and chile, but id like to include jamaica cuba trinidad as well but i dont know what would be the best route..... ideally to cover every country except for the small carribean ones and guinea/french guinea/suriname

i usually break out a map and plot the places i want to go. Many times a route shows itself. Sometimes it wont, but you wont know until you do.

you can also plot your trip on Google Maps by creating your own map. I do this for every trip i do, but i break it down to countries to make things easier for myself so that the map points dont get too busy.

somethings you will want to consider...

- when you go. Some places may or may not be available depending on when you go.

- weather. that may affect if you are able to enjoy your time there. An Antarctica trip will be dependent on the weather from what i understand. You will want to have slack time before and after from what i understand so this can be an issue.

- attractions.. Such as Carnival. If you plan on seeing something like this you may want to plan ahead for the lodging since it can be full and your choice may not be available. Im sure that $$$ will be a concern like many things, the prices maybe higher during that time.

- safety. Some places like Venezuela may not be the safest place to go. I was looking to go there last year, but for me I'm holding off until things are more stable. T&T is off the coast of Venezuela if i remember correctly and I'm not sure how you will approach or get there, but if you have to go through Venezuela, it maybe an issue. Im not sure I'm just thinking about how things are going down there.

- VISAs. im assuming you will have your VISAs done for this trip. I know that some people wait until they are in the adjacent country to do the work, but the way i see things, is that if you know you are going to go why wait to do the paperwork?

- Vaccines. Im sure you will be getting those too.

- travel in S. America will not be as easy as in Europe in my opinion. the train system is non existent as far as I'm concerned. I used planes for my trip last year since i was going from big city in one country to the next big city in the other country. Im going to take some short bus hops in Brazil this year, but I'm doing so to see how they work and how comfortable they are.

Do you have personal funds to cover this trip or are you planning to work to earn money? Why those 3 Caribbean Islands?

Hi, sorry for late reply

Right now I'm holding about 30k usd available and with my job I'm expecting to be able to double that

But it is impossible for me to assess how much money would be required..

r c Has given you excellent advice, which I'm not going to repeat.

I will add though, that for most of your destinations, you'll need to fly.

There are "round the world" tickets which travel in one direction to another (e.g. from east to west) & allow stops and breaks along the way. RTW tickets offer substantial savings over point to point fares. Some countries also require "proof of onward travel", which RTW tickets would satisfy.

The air travel forum has a info item about RTW planning, (in Top Questions box) which you may find helpful.

As you are at the "thinking" stage, you can be flexible but would benefit from the advice and services of an established and reputable travel agent. You'll probably need a specialist shipping agent for Antarctica.
