Be aware of booking with Love Holidays

Be aware when booking with Love Holidays. They are registered with ATOL and ABTA, but the third party they book your hotel with isn't. Should you have a problem with your hotel you are not protected as the contract is with the third party and not Love Holidays.

We discovered this, when the hotel we booked had closed down. We told Love Holidays but nothing was done. We had to book another hotel, which cost us quite a few hundred extra . We are unable to claim anything back, as the third party is not ABTA or ATOL registered. Love Holidays do not warn you about that.

Bedbanks which agents use for accommodation can't hold an Atol, they only sell accommodation, not that holding an Atol would have made any difference. They're also not agents or tour operators so not members of governing bodies. They're often not even UK companies. An agents Abta membership is to protect the customer financially if the agent ceases trading, and also to make sure their members act in accordance with their codes. They also run an arbitration service that customers of Abta members can use.

Your contract was with the hotel, but the agent should work with your and their supplier to find you a suitable alternative, which may involve an extra cost.
