United E+ bulkhead seats

I was just reading the thread about two seniors wanting seating together and started thinking about our purchased E+ bulkhead seats on our return from Paris next spring. I try to opt for the window/aisle bulkhead. We've never had a problem together but last spring when my husband was returning from Brussels he had his seat changed at the gate because of an older wheelchair passenger needed it. Not a problem but the middle seat he had to take was less expensive than the bulkhead. So my question is are those bulkhead seats "reserved" for the handicapped if needed ? No objection here but would like to be prepared for a potential move.

I cannot speak to UA policy, but do see several wheelchair pax in the E+ bulkhead seats. In last 20 flights, I'd say as high as 20%, but notice this most often, if we are in the last row of FC, so probably have missed a few, on those same flights.

Good luck,

Well if there are disabled people then perhaps but you may or may not have any that need your seat. I see that once in a while

Disabled passengers are assigned window seats as a safety precaution. If there's the need to evacuate the aircraft, their being "in the way" and unable to move could compromise the safety of other passengers.

So it's possible this person had purchased an E+ aisle seat (even bulkhead) and was switched to the window for the above reason.

You can claim a refund of the difference between the E+ window seat purchased and the middle your husband was bumped to. Use this page on united.com and select "Economy Plus Refund".

My favorite E+ seats are the exit rows. Much more legroom and definitely no chance of being bumped for a disabled passenger.

Thanks, USBusiness - but it wasn't really a problem for him - he's a nice guy and neither of us are OCD about minor refunds. I just usually book (on 777 aircraft) seats 20 A & B whenever possible. He was in seat 20 B (aisle) when he was switched so it wasn't even the window seat.

Things happen and life goes on. We're just fortunate that we get to vakay in London and Paris once a year and count our blessings (which are many).
