1. Re: bumped

It depends which way your flying.

If your flying out of Europe your due the standard EU261 compo.

If your flying into Europe, your due nothing.

Where have you been bumped?

In Europe or in the US? Makes a big difference.

The mention of a food voucher n € suggests o me that it was a Europen airport. Dublin, perhaps?

I'm guessing a €15 food voucher would be of little use in the US.

Why?

The reason matters.

What was their excuse?

I tried to edit my post but failed.

Since you were given 15€ food voucher I'm guessing your in Europe.

You'll have to claim on their website for IDB compo, which you are certainly due.

You'll have to wait a few weeks for your money. Unfortunately any consequential losses must he claimed on your insurance.

Being bumped almost certainly means he will be paid.

The airline overbooked and hoped people wouldn't show, they all did.

OK. So it wasn't an equipment substitution or mechanical then. Thanks.

Flying out from Europe the compensation for involuntary denied boarding is €600 for a flight of transatlantic length. They won't pay you it at the airport - you have to apply for it.

Depending on when you reach the final destination on the ticket, you may be also liable to compensation for delay. But that depends on how much later than the original scheduled arrival time you actually are, and you won't know that until you arrive!
