Tobacco importing regulation (F1 student visa)

I am 21 and I will be returning to Seattle, WA on the F-1 student visa. I am trying to carry 10 packs (contains 16 cigs each) totaling at 160. I read that the limit is 1000 cigarettes, but I am not a resident and I am just exactly 21 years old. All of these are for personal use as they are not sold in the U.S.

Can someone please help me clarify if a non-resident is allowed to import cigarettes to the U.S? If so, how many cigarettes would be the limit?

Why are you asking us this question and not US Customs?

According to the following, you can bring 200 cigarettes duty free into the US: https:/…customs-duty-info

<< I read that the limit is 1000 cigarettes>> Seems very high to me. Check that you read from the official source and not just somewhere.

If not sure, declare it to customs.

Bring 5000 if you want and tell the Custom's officer that I said it was OK..... see how far that get you

Go to the source which is the US Customs

You can take 200 cigs in duty free. Where did you get the idea it was 1000?
