Internal flight in US

.

avoncarole

Hi, we are doing a US tour in May next year that finishes in Orlando, we are intending to spend a week between Miami and Key West,

I have no idea as to how your internal flights do the pricing,is it best to look and book now or later down the track and how likely are they to change your flight times .

So flights from Orlando to Miami and we are using the bus to go to Key West

Any help will be appreciated

Cheers Carole

Flight pricing works the same as in Oz. Book at a price you are comfortable with. I don't think anyone but the airline can answer a question about flight time changes but in general I would leave it until next year to book anything. Ther are multiple flights per day on this route anyway.

I would add you might want to look at Southwest who fly non stop from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale which is close enough to Miami - they offer 2 free checked bags which will be an extra cost with the other legacy carriers.

Southwest don't appear on the usual search engines so you'll have to check on their website.

You can book domestic US flights on the Southwest website.

Who is your main long haul flight with? Maybe they have a codeshare partner such as AA, Delta or United who has the domestic flight you are looking for.

Following up on #3: Southwest is having an airfare sale right now, so consider booking if you are interested in flying with them. One nice thing about SW is that they do not charge a "change fee" if you need to alter your plans. Note that there may be a difference in fare though that you would have to pay. But if you buy now & decide to change later, you'd just end up paying what you would have paid if you waited. They do use alternate airport in some places: FLL vs. MIA, HOU vs. IAD, DAL vs. DFW, MDW vs. ORD.

Just as an aside from the flights question, sounds like you may be may benefit from renting a car in Florida. Public transportation is available in the major cities, but not always reliable.

Might want to look at renting a car if budget allows. It is a beautiful drive with lots of nice places to stop.

The total drive time from Orlando to Miami via the turnpike is just under 3 and a half hours and the same goes for Miami to key west this is not during rush hours -- and the drive to key west is Lovely

We did both this month

It will take you the same time to transfer to airport take a flight and transfer back. Etc.

I would rent a car and drive

The OP is from Australia. Not everyone can drive on the opposite side of the road.
