Transiting in Narita, luggage checked through?

Transiting in Narita, luggage checked through?

I'm flying IAD-NRT-BKK later this week on ANA. My connection in Tokyo is 1:40, and I understand that I need to go through security once in Tokyo before going to my next gate, but will my luggage get checked through since I stay on the same airline or so I need to pick it up?

On the way back I actually switch from ANA to United in NRT, so I'm assuming for that flight I'd need to pick up the bags. Is that correct?

Hi,

Under the assumption that all your flights are on ONE single ticket - that is an IAD-BKK route and not two or more self-made connections put together by you or an agent.. if so, then yes, your bags will be tagged in Dulles to BKK where you will reclaim them and clear thru customs. Narita would only be a passenger security rescreening event.

Same in the reverse when coming back from Bangkok.
