We received great service and food was delicious. We eat a little spicy food as our parents were visiting from india and the chef made a perfect meal for us. In fact, we got a special piccante grilled peppers and a special chili mix on the side. So delighted we were!
Restaurant in the main street, encircled by all other restaurants of the town. Few places outside but very nice location inside. Its focus is on meat, which is displayed at the entrance in full sight along with the grill: the grill is very tasty indeed. Selection of dishes are not extraordinary but that is a good sign..there is also a fried fish in the menu which was good as well. In other words a reference point for eating both for lunch or dinner.
We were visiting the beautiful town of Murten and chose this restaurant for a nice but relaxed evening meal for the two of us. Seeing the wine pairing menu we thought we would give it a go. What a wonderful culinary delight it was and we were so pleased we decided to add the cheese course. Outstanding and friendly service too. I highly recommend this place.
Beautiful restaurant, great view of the lake. Incredible service. Our waiter spoke enough English to help us through the menu and answer all our questions. He was also diligent and caring throughout. The food was amazing. We started with two different types of tartars. They were each unique and delicious. They also came with fries that were also excellent. We than had their steak, which was served over a hot flame and came with two different sauces. It was outstanding. We also had an excellent salad and a desert. Throughout we had their excellent local wines, all made about a mile away. An amazing experience. One of our best meals ever.
Mr. Prozillo and his wife manage to offer a very consistent quality of delicious Italian food. The meat, seafood and pasta are always unique, fresh and authentic. We visited this place for many years as regular customers until we lately moved abroad. We were often offered a special like the Bistecca Fiorentina or Tagliatelle with white truffles that wasn't on the menu. Pricewise this place offers excellent value and in summer one can enjoy the beautiful setting in the arcades. Murten's best kept secret when it comes to Italian food!
I went to Bistrottino two days ago with my friends. The place is nice and welcoming, the pizzas and pasta are very good but the waiters and service in general is... Terrible! There was no space when we came in and when we finally got a table, we had to wait more than 5 minutes to have chairs to sit on! We ordered a "carafe" with water, which you usually don't pay (except in the mountains!) and at the end we paid almost 18 CHF for 2 liters of water!! (from the tap!) We should have ordered wine it would have been the same price! That really upset us. I would not eat there again... (And I am not a picky person, I usually try to enjoy everything and not complain...)
This restaurant is actually inexpensive considering the quality and quantity they provide ! The food is classic but presented in a up to date fashion. The taste is superb, the quantity, if you order a la carte, is generous! The service is excellent. Highly recommended!
As Americans visiting Switzerland , we were nervous to eat out somewhere because we don’t speak much of the local language. However, the staff was so friendly and patient with us and helping us! The atmosphere is lovely, the location is beautiful and the food is so so good. It came out quickly too. Our waiters, Angelo and Giuseppe where so funny, kind and helpful! A great restaurant to take your family and friends in a very laid back but clean, positive and beautiful atmosphere. Also had gluten free options that where delicious!! Thank you La Fontana! ! Danke, Fontana!
We stopped in Murten on our driving tour of Switzerland, and found this restaurant downtown to be so charming we had to eat here. My wife got their roast chicken, the schnitzel for me, and we shared a salad. The salad had an incredible homemade dressing, the schnitzel was above average, but the roast chicken was a must-try! One of the best chicken dishes we have eaten. Then... dessert. We got the chocolate lava cake, it comes with cream (to help with the intense sweetness) and vanilla ice cream. My wife said it the best: “this is the best dessert, and one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, period.” Eat here when in Murten- you won’t be disappointed!
The restaurant is pleasant, and in summer, sitting in the terrace overlooking Lake Murten is a nice experience. The food has its price - this being Switzerland, after all - but is certainly tasty and well presented. We had fish dishes which were absolutely up to par. However, diminishing the experience is the slow and erratic service. Lack of personnel in the high season for Swiss inland tourism? A pity.
We know Morat well, by the small lake it is a tourist destination. Over the years the culinary offerings have degraded to pizzas accompanied by outrageous drink prices. Restaurant Eintracht is the exception. Family owned, the welcome is warm, the food excellent and the wine sensibly priced. Highly recommended, the next time I am in Morat I will return without doubt. Thanks to the whole team and especially Margrit, our waitress on the day.
Wonderful Italian ice cream with a wide range of flavors. The price is mid range. One scoop is 4 CHF, two scoops is 6 CHF.
Sunday lunch al fresco in the back garden by the Lake Murten. The available hotel/restaurant parking lots are very welcome when everybody in the region longs for sunbathing on the shores. Excellent menu, lightly prepared dishes of fish, risotto, or potatoes and lamb or other red meats. Light deserts and a good wine selection. The savvy and kind service lady did a great job even with no knowledge of English. We enjoyed every moment, recommend the restaurant (and particularly terrace seating in warm weather) and would consider coming back when in the region maybe also including an overnight stay at the next door Manor.
We were a group of five lady bikers and spent the night in this hotel. Good welcome, friendly staff, even to the point of lifting our bikes down some stairs. Rooms were tasteful appear new and spotless and location is good as right by the walls of Murten so off the main street. We had a good meal in the courtyard at the BACK of the hotel so would recommend this spot. Varied menu to suit all and prices reasonable. Excellent breakfast. Would be perfect if they had a lock up bike place but they did take care with our electric bikes and covered them. Quiet night. No lifts in the hotel.
This place has real atmosphere, as well as very nice food and an excellent service. I often passed through the passageway which leads to this restaurant without actually visiting it, but I am very glad that I did today. The place is packed full of knicknacks and odd and ends of every description, but it really works and creates a very warm, friendly and quirky environment where you can sit in comfort and sample the very nice food on offer. On warmer days, it is also possible to eat and drink on the terrasse. I had some chocolate cake with Gruyere cream, which was delicious (a kind of brownie cake). I also enjoyed a very interesting beer (Junker in der Bugelflasche) that I had not come across before. Many tables appeared to be reserved for the evening meal, so it may be worth reserving if you are planning to eat a meal there.
Great restaurant to dine and especially the food was excellent. The staff was very friendly and most of all they were very responsive.
Nice food, good atmosphere and wine. Unfortunately over priced and staff is really slow. Easy too find and to book, just across the train station.
Had a pizza here with my grandsons and two hungry boys and their Grand-dad had a struggle to finish it such was it's enormity. Good family value and pizza can be seen cooking.
Murten, a historical and attractive small town has become quite touristy, so are its several shops. At the main thoroughfare, the cobblestoned Hauptgasse, I was looking at confiseries, offering the famous 'Nidelkuchen', a local speciality, but even the smallest partions looked far too big for me, especially since this is not a light weight dessert. So I decided to go for breakfast to the Café Züger with pleasant outdoor seating on the pedestrianised Hauptgasse, half under arcades, half further out. I asked for a 'Kleines Frühstück' (small breakfast), consisting of a hot drink of choice, a small orange juice, butter, jam and two typical Swiss breads, a 'Gipfeli' (croissant) and a 'Weggli'. All very standard and unexciting and a bit more expensive than at the not far away main town of Fribourg. Still a pleasant place for a break during visits and a good spot for people watching from the outdoor seats.
3 of us had a very pleasant evening sitting outside with friends on a balmy early Autumn evening The service was prompt, helpful and very friendly, especially with the owner speaking several languages, and changing seamlessly from one to another The 2 pizzas that my friends ordered were good, and my seafood pasta was delicious I would thoroughly recommend Pizzeria Taverna
The view is breathtaking, specially for dinner (sunset over the lake). Service is nice and friendly although it took a while to get the bill at the end (20mn). Food is correct although presentation could be improved but the wine is far too expensive around 10 CHF/dl, water too (7CHF for half a bottle) and Aperol Spritz at 15 CHF....
We went for a drink and salad to this confiserie, with following result and feedback for you as TripAdvisor User Entrance / welcome = 4 Host service = 4 Food quality = no salad after 1:30pm Location & Atmosphere = 5 Cleanliness = 5 Wait times = 4 View = 5 Beverage = 5 Next time again: yes, but before 1:30pm Not so nice: The Swiss are very accurate, at 1:27pm it’s not possible to order a simple salad 🥗 ;-(
I went with kids for Pizza, price / quality perfect. They also offer choice of meat. Friendly service. I recommend this place.
Friendly and helpful host, food is very tasty and fresh, dishes have an excellent presentation, limited wine offer but well selected
Recomended, limited choice ... A small tipical Swiss restourant, which looks family owned. The food tasted freshly cooked, and judging by the choice all local. We were proposed 4 menus, the only difference was the meat. The rest did not change. Soup, meet, vedgetables and fries. However it was quite good! With exception of the soup ... salt: way way too much. Not too pricy for the Swiss standards.
This restaurant is one of my Cousin's favourite restaurants and we visited it on at least 4 occasions while were staying in Murten / Morat. It is a family owned restaurant with a very friendly staff. We ordered a variety of food from the menu: Pizza, Pasta Calzone, Risotto, Gnocchi and salad. It was all excellent, enjoyable and filling food. The Cardinale (Fribourg) beer was refreshing. The local Vully wine is as good a wine as you can get from the best vinyards in Europe and is better than a lot of them. I will certainly try to find some in England. WE spent most of our visits sat on the Terrace, which is only open until 22.00PM, with views of Murten Castle. We will certainly go back to this restaurant when we next go to visit my Cousin.
Came here for some cookies and of course the Nidelkuchen (cream cake). We just had some fantastic Nidelkuchen in Neuchatel a few days ago and wondered how it would compare. Well, we were a bit disappointed. The base was pretty dry and there just wasn't enough cream or cream flavour. It's just a different style than the one in Neuchatel and there's nothing wrong with that. But we just liked the other one much more; creamier, softer, fresher. The cookies were just ok as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful though. Prices fair.
Quick stop on the road in this place located 1 minute from the highway exit. Decent offer of the classical salads, pasta etc... Rather quick service (but the place was almost empty) and nothing even remotely reminiscent of gastronomy, but not bad and very decent pricing. A good point for the free small desert.
