We rode our bikes out to Cisco and stopped at Bartletts Farm to take in the entire operation and it is impressive. Fruits, vegetables, home grown garden fresh and lots of it. We did pick up freshly made salads to take home along with groceries. They have a wide variety and make ready to eat foods as well. Loved it all. Don't miss this island gem.

My family and I went to Back Yard on an early afternoon to enjoy some snacks and drinks. We sat at the corner of the bar, our bartender, Armani was so informative. She guided us on having some appetizers and some bbq. Wow! It did not disappoint! My husband being a picky eater had been dancing along with the blues music they had every bite he took. Our favorites where the Mac, pulled pork, the wings and the cornbread. We hope to come back and re live the same experience! Thanks BYB AND ARMANI!

My wife and I have been visiting Nantucket for over 20 years now, and have eaten at almost every restaurant on the island. But for whatever reason, we never had a chance to get to the Ships Inn until July this year. We sure wish we had the opportunity to dine at the Ships Inn years earlier, because we both agree that it is our new favorite restaurant on Nantucket. After dinner we asked ourselves what could have been better, and we just couldn’t think of anything. The decor was simple but cozy, and the atmosphere was relaxed and not very loud at all. Our server Mark was great. The appetizers, main course, and desserts were all incredible. My wife had the Caesars salad for appetizer and I had the pan seared sea scallops. My wife loved the salad, and I think the scallops were probably the best I’ve ever had anywhere. My wife had the salmon and I had the filet mignon. Both were the best you could ever expect anywhere, and we loved the sides that came with these meals also. We had the vanilla layer cake with dark chocolate layers and dark chocolate frosting, and wow, that was incredible! This is a very challenging time for restaurants, and although many have not survived the pandemic, others have thrived and done very well. I don’t know what secret the successful restaurants know that the others do not, but the Ships Inn definitely knows that secret. Besides great food, great service, and a great atmosphere, I think a great menu is an important factor, and the diversity of choices on the Ships Inn menu was one of the key reasons that we selected the Ships Inn for my wife’s 60th birthday dinner. We look forward to going back to the Ships Inn soon, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for the number one dining spot on Nantucket.

We chose Dune for dinner our first night in Nantucket , restaurant was nicely decorated and staff was good . We started off with the corn and crab soup , very good but for the $ , there should've been more crab . For entrees , we had the halibut off the menu and the ribeye special , both entrees were very good , the ribeye came out sliced which was a first for us but cooked to order . A bit pricey as compared to what you get but we would return .

Eight of us ate a leisurely lunch in the upstairs room - which, sssssh, has a secret lavatory avoiding trips up and down the steep staircase. Some of the party live on the island and they, rightly, raved about the quality of the food while recognizing that the vast majority of diners are tourists. The scallop dishes were especially succulent, but none of the seven different dishes raised anything other than noises of satisfaction. They are some good draft beer selections - especially their local IPAs. But, even allowing for “Island pricing”, the appetizers, the entrees, and the cocktails (admittedly large servings) were all on the more expensive end of the spectrum. The cadre of youthful servers are well trained, highly enthusiastic, and helpful. Parking in the adjacent lots is straightforward.

Our visit started rough. I had made a reservation via Open Table and requested a window table on the reservation. We arrived early to a basically empty restaurant, except for two tables, yet were going to be seated next to the bathroom. Why do some restaurants put you in a crappy table when better tables are available? We politely asked for the window table and they were enthusiastically nice about seating us there. Just not sure why we had to ask (we also asked if we could sit on the patio, as it was basically empty and were told no, that they had reservations already - but I doubt that was the case when table sat empty during our time dining). After cocktails (reasonably priced and delicious), we started with the two course fixed price menu. I started with beef tartare. It was very good. My wife started with the soup and it was delicious!!! For dinner, my wife had the spiced Halibut and I had the Salmon. Unfortunately, the Halibut was just too salty. The fish itself was very fresh and cooked perfectly tender. She enjoyed it when she cut off the spiced topping. My Salmon was probably the best tasting Salmon dish I had ever had - anywhere. When asked how our meal was my wife mentioned the fish was just too salty for her, but she worked around it. They could not have been nicer and more apologetic. They immediately took the fish off the bill. The manager also came by. I have not seen a restaurant handle and issue so well and put the customer first. They certainly earned our loyalty and we will be back next time in Nantucket.

We dined on a Saturday evening , the Staff was incredibly inviting and helpful . We had an excellent bottle of wine along with the burrata appetizer , both recommended by our server . We then ordered 2 entrees and a half order of pasta as a side , we had the fluke special and , the halibut off the menu and , the fennel orecchiette , the fish were done perfectly and the pasta was terrific . We finished the meal off with saverin the moment for desert , delicious . This was by far our best dining experience in Nantucket and maybe anywhere !

It's hard to add much more to all the glowing reviews here. It's the island's hardest reservation to get for a reason. We simply got there about 5pm and snagged bar seats. Done. The bartenders are just the best you'll ever encounter. Warm, conversational and very good at what they do. Our cocktails were just amazing and we tried several. Inventive and delicious, all! We tried six dishes and they all just killed. The tuna poke was the best I've ever had and I love tuna poke. A perfect balance of all those flavors and the sushi rice was perfection. I'm now ruined for all others. Thanks Nautilus. The rare beef Vietnamese dish was again delicious and exotic, a word I kept thinking of the whole night to describe the amazing dinner. Another word I heard a lot from the bar was 'wow' after a first bite. I did plenty of that myself. The monkfish in fish sauce caramel were a bit much for my partner but I loved them as I love fish sauce quite a lot. The crab fried rice is just scrumptious with big hunks of fresh blue crab and two sauces, it's a meal in itself so pace yourself with this one! Everyone orders the oyster tacos and yes, get them. Amazing. We received a free order of the calamari due to an error in the order and it was again a stellar dish. In my opinion Nautilus was the best meal we had on our 9 day's on the island. I love small plates and tapa most of all and I'm a freak for Asian so I may be a bit biased here. We also dined at Straight wharf, Proprietors and American Seasons and the Nautilus was by far my favorite meal.

My husband and I happened on this hotel and restaurant after a long walk on the beach. We opted for lunch in The Breeze and were so impressed with the impeccable service and quality of the food for the price. Food is extremely expensive on Nantucket, but The Breeze’s prices were fair especially considering the taste quality, and presentation of the food. We felt so special that we went back for dinner on the same day even though we were not guests. We had a similar experience this time with stellar cocktails. Very intimate atmosphere and cozy near the glass enclosed fire table. A jewel of a find.

Got brioche French toast, blueberry pancakes (really tasty blueberries fresh/sweet) w sides of sausage and bacon, avocado chili toast w poached eggs, bbq chicken sandwich w sweet potato fries, Brie/asparagus on focaccia w fries and panini caprese w mixed greens ( took the 3 sandwiches to go for later) for $100 ( cheaper than the prices they gouge you to go on the ferries) . All the food was good but also healthy and of good quality so was really worth it. The waitress was super nice and also the bus boy! Smoothies looked tasty too but next time. Probably won’t be back since it cost a couple hundred bucks to take a ferry for the day

On an Island who's slogan in 2022 should be "Why pay less?" Cru was, dish for dish and drink for drink, the most expensive meal of our week on the island. The location is one of the best on Nantucket, right at the end of straight wharf with stellar views of the harbor and the million dollar yachts. The oysters are superb and the fifth bends are grown only for Cru. A glass of NV champagne will run you $35, the lobster roll $48 and for maybe 6 ounces of lobster in a brioche bun with fries you might want to skip it. Lobster, after all can only be so good. A single U8 shrimp will run you $8.50. Cocktails were superb and my on-tap Belgian ale hit the spot of a warm, sunny day. Some have said the food has slipped in recent visits. The head chef Erin Zircher has moved on to have a baby and maybe Cru isn't what is used to be. Cru is a scene, a place to see and be seen. I don't regret the visit and the outdoor lunch was a classy way to begin the week's stay on the island. But if you don't have a hedge fund bank account it's probably going to be a one-time thing. That's fine with me. Glad we went but Cru is really mostly atmosphere in the end. Enjoy a little slice of the luxe life. After all, you're on Nantucket. Lucky you.

We rated this restaurant 10 for cuisine and zero for ambiance. We were seated at a small two-top located against the side of the main house in what can best be described as a passage way to a larger outside dining area to the rear. Across, there was another dining area in what had at one time been the entrance to an adjoining property. There was zero ambiance apart from the procession of servers and guests being escorted to the rear area. Not at all desirable or attractive. On the other hand, the food was wonderfully prepared, enticingly presented and full of flavors and texture. Many of the menu items could be described as vegetarian-friendly but surprised as being appetizing to a carnivore. In particular the fried green tomatoes and the crispy broccoli were outstanding. For a carnivore, the serving of a single, whole octopus tentacle was unusual and delicious. So, let’s weight the rating by the food and place less weight on the ambiance in the hope that the restaurant will in future pay attention to the need to provide more balance and an enhanced outside ambiance.

We were very excited to have lunch here on our day trip to Nantucket, but unfortunately we were disappointed. It was pretty quiet, only one other table, I guess we sat after the typical lunch crowd, and service was poor. The bartenders seemed more interested in goofing off with each other and making fun of an elderly patron at the bar than they did with serving us. So much so that they missed the opportunity to offer us another round of drinks by not checking in on us. The lobster roll was also disappointing, way too much dill - it was one of the more expensive and less appealing lobster rolls we had in the Cape Cod/Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard area. The French fries were cold also. Overall, disappointing.

Lovely dinner. Really, really great food. Very small room but excellent and well-worth it. I enjoyed sitting inside with the heat of summer but on cooler nights the porch might be just as pleasant. I do not often great beef but with Kevin's recommendation I got the special and my steak was cooked to perfection with a lovely dark sauve on top.

First of all, we sent here for dinner. I will tell you the food is delicious. That being said, the whole process of waiting in line to be let in even if you have reservations is like waiting in line to board a Southwest airplane. A little demeaning. Once you are seated, you definitely feel that there is a schedule you need to follow. The pace is unbelievable, so they can sit the next sitting. We brought our own wine because they do not serve it there. They charge a five dollar charge per person to open the bottle. But, they place the bottle on the table and never touch it again. They do not pour it for you which is fine. But, if you are a party of four, that bottle costs you $20 to bring as oppose to the same bottle being opened for $10 at a table of two. The waiter came by literally five minutes after opening the bottle to ask us for our selections. We asked for a little more time and within two minutes another staff member came over asking for our selections. I kid you not, once we ordered, our first course was placed in front of us within 3 minutes. Once anyone finished, the dish was whisked away. The pace was unbelievable. Entrees were efficiently delivered and then whisked away. We literally were in and out in an hour. Also, if you want bread for the table it is an additional charge. So, the bottom line is that the food is great! What the restaurant does not understand is that dining is much more than great food. There is no ambiance. No flowers on the table, no candles, no linen. They pipe rock music and there are noisy fans going. It really is a breakfast place that cooks food for dinner. The staff makes you feel like you are keeping them at work just to serve you. We will not return here again even though we have been coming here each year we visit. If you want a very quick meal that is high quality please dine here. If you are looking for a dining experience go somewhere else. This place just does not understand it takes more than food to serve dinner.

We recently enjoyed a family dinner at the only table located in the wine room which provided both semi-privacy and a cozy atmosphere. While one member in our party felt the portions were small for the price, everyone else was most pleased with their flavorful and well-prepared selections. The staff was attentive without being intrusive.....overall, a most pleasant dining experience.

We ate here twice for lunch and my daily dozen oysters, a beautiful taste of the ocean. Fried fish sandwich was excellent as were the accompanying tater tots, and we enjoyed the stuffed quahogs. Clam chowder, lobster roll and Korean chicken sandwich were OK. Nice selection of beers. We ate both indoors and outdoors and were seated promptly by friendly servers.

Or rather, dine in was available in October. I assume this will change with the pandemic surges. We had heard about this place from an island resident as being a local favorite. The fare consists of basic usual breakfast items. Although donuts were supposed to be kind of a specialty, I can't say that there was anything special about the donuts, and would definitely not recommend going just for those. On the day that we went, we could see the outdoor order window, pickup, and outdoor seating, and did not realize until after committing to it that indoor seating was available as well. They were gracious enough to allow us to change. The table condiments bear a sign that they get cleaned between seatings.

For our last dinner on the island, after a glorious week on the beach in Madaket, I chose American Seasons. Oran Mor and Dune were also 'on the list' and I can't speak to either but they all share three-course menu formats in the 'New American' style of food, more or less. I've always wanted to dine here. It looks so charming and so very Nantucket. The patio is nice but it was a bit humid so we got table inside. It's an old house, a bit outside of town center and the floors are uneven, which made for a rather tilted table. The main rom is smaller than it looks in the pictures and the decor, though simple exudes a kind of 'we're not trying to hard' Nantucket classiness. Our server was really just perfect with his Irish brogue, warm welcoming manner and spot-on service. Okay, the food. Bread service is as basic as it could get and included a single slice of locally made sourdough bread with a ramekin of warm, seasoned butter. It was maybe a bit too basic for a restaurant of this caliber with entrees reaching the mid 60 price point. My starter of local sea scallops with candied grapes was quite good and inventive with the included three scallops. The farm duck egg was very tasty with local bacon lardons and fresh English peas. Our mains were the tenderloin with potato, a braised onion and trumpet mushrooms and a rather pedestrian fondant potato. The dish really needed a more generous hand with the red wine sauce and I found myself wanting more to accompany my $64 entree which overall I found a bit under-inventive for the price. The local Skate was again very tasty and well cooked if small on the fish portion. The chocolate desert was again very good with pistachio cake and a delicious ice cream. Okay. This is a tough review to nail. I found myself wondering what my other two options would have been like. Oran Mor and Dune. I guess I expected to be more impressed with American Seasons than I was in the end. The portions were on the smaller side, even for fine dining and the prices are demanding enough to be sure. Would I return? Maybe not as there are other options to explore, but this is not the fault of American Seasons in a place like Nantucket where the fine dining options are not hard to come by. My experience did not come close to our dinner at The Nautilus, which was by far the best meal we had on the island (you just have to get in of course) or Straight Wharf where I thought the food was both more plentiful and better executed and you can't beat the harborside deck for the view! So, is American Seasons worth the price? Sure, but there are just other choices on the island that are probably a better one for a fine meal.

Le Languedoc Bistro served delicious food. The chef’s presentation was thoughtful and the food was sumptuous and flavorful. The restaurant’s spacing between tables was consistent with good social distancing. The staff and servers were friendly and got along well with one another. Even though it was our first visit to Le Languedoc, we were treated as well as the regulars. Highly recommended this restaurant!

We biked to The Chanticleer for lunch during our 6 night stay in downtown Nantucket, so I made the reservation for lunch, and oh my, what a great lunch we had at this amazing restaurant in Sconset. I requested an outdoor table in the garden, and it is such a perfect setting for those that love flowers with a centerpiece of a wooden carousel horse that lends a whimsical note to this space. The bread service was excellent and provided a taste of what was to come. I ordered the Lobster BLT with a glass of wine, my husband had the "special of the day" which was Halibut with vegetables with a glass of beer. Our servers were attentive and helpful but not intrusive. The food was delicious, well presented, flavorful and interesting. We enjoyed our meals tremendously and can highly recommend this restaurant to others. Be prepared to pay for this food and ambiance, as this was an expensive lunch, ~$150 but it was well worth it to us as one of our vacation splurge meals. The only tiny downside was when we arrived, 10 minutes early for our 1:30 p.m. reservation, the hostess seemed a bit miffed that we were early, ha, (wonder what she thinks about those that arrive late) even though there were many empty tables outside, but we promptly forgot about her and proceeded to enjoy our lunch in the garden.

The night of September 1st, 2021 brought remnants of former Hurricane Ida across our path. Despite having made September 2nd dinner reservations for the Company of the Cauldron weeks in advance, the storm-related cancellations of all ferries to Nantucket from New Bedford made our trip improbable at best. Fortunately, ferries did start running from Hyannis that afternoon, so our precious reservation for our anniversary dinner was saved. How fortunate for us! The Company of the Cauldron has been our favorite Nantucket special occasion restaurant for the better part of a decade. The atmosphere is established as you enter the cozy dining room finished with touches from Italy, where the original dining club with this name was established in Florence in the early 1500's. Here you are invited to join a large gathering of your newfound friends, ably hosted by the restaurant staff including Jordana, the sommelier, and the chefs led by Executive Chef Joseph Keller. There is one 7:00 p.m. seating for the dinner and everyone is served the same sequence of courses as the evening memorably progresses. We were seated at a lovely table where the table covering celebrated with us by proclaiming "Happy Anniversary!" Our prix fixe meal began with Popovers with Vermont butter followed by Bartlett's Summer Garden Heirloom Tomato Salad with a citrus vinaigrette. The main course was the spectacular Beef Wellington with wagyu beef from Snake River Farms in Loomis, Washington, melt in your mouth tender and able to be sliced with a fork. The accompanying wine was a rich and multifaceted Hourglass Cabernet sauvignon. With the entree came Bartlett Farm summer farm vegetables including sautéed field-grown carrots, Brussels sprouts, and mushrooms. We enjoyed celebratory champagne with our dessert, crème brûlée with a shortbread cookie. Each course was at the same impossibly high standard as the course preceding it and the following course would be. This was an auspicious start for a wonderful 39th anniversary weekend. The evening's experience was immeasurably enhanced by the attentive and friendly service, making it seem to be a warm family meal (the likes of which few families ever enjoy together, unfortunately). We had the opportunity to taste Chef Joseph's mastery twice more on this trip by sharing two take-out meals: the Snake River Farms Kurobuta pork spare rib dinner (with "Big Daddies BBQ Sauce", warm potato salad, cole slaw, biscuit, and strawberry shortcake), and the fried chicken dinner (with warm potato salad, cole slaw, biscuit, and strawberry shortcake), also delectable chocolate chip cookies. How spoiled we were! We cannot wait to return next year to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary!

We went to the Boarding House twice last year and were impressed by the entire experience. Even though we are longtime summer residents, we had no idea how nice the restaurant was inside. However, when we returned this year, we were a bit disappointed. The overall meal was good--not great as we had thought last year. Starting off with stale bread didn't set the proper stage for the rest of the meal. The service was altogether slow with a seemingly new server, while the water service was entertainingly outrageous, with 12 refills in one and a half hours. The appetizers were strange--not a descriptor we often use, but seemed fitting for the menu--and not especially outstanding or even that appetizing for some at the table. We had better luck with the main courses, but, again, nothing memorable or outstanding like we had last year. Most disappointing were the doughnuts for dessert, which seemed to have undergone a complete makeover--or downgrade--from last year's delights, which we pined for all winter. These were somewhat sad, cold puffs of dough that didn't sit well after the rest of the meal. We went home and had some sea salt gelato from the freezer, which lifted our sagging spirits!

This is still a place with good pub food, a friendly long ong 2 sided bar, scattered tables which can make way for entertainment on certain nights of the week. AND, it has still reasonable prices, not easy to find on Nantucket anymore, since many of my friends & acquaintances have dubbed it "A lovely but rich man's Island." But the Rose & Crown will not break one's wallet or purse. And they have street seating or you can sit near an open window if you snag one.

My wife and I went to the tavern for a late lunch on a mid September Tuesday afternoon. We had to wait about 15 minutes for an outside table (note: they do not accept reservations). The staff was friendly and efficient. We started with a half dozen local oysters which were spectacular! Cold, fresh and prepared expertly. Delicious!! Best ever! We also split the tavern burger which is a double patty spin on a Big Mac. It was cooked perfect and juicy. We had it with the side of greens which had a wonderful vinaigrette on it. I highly recommend this place. All the food coming out looked great. We will definitely be back.

We stopped into Lemon Press to order two lunches to go as we were headed to Jetties Beach and wanted to bring some lunch with us. We ordered two salads and encountered a problem with one of them. We let the owner Rachel know and she more than took care of fixing the problem and she showed what true customer service is, and of course this ensures we’ll be back on future visits and will tell friends and family not only how good the Falafel Salad is but also how well we were treated. Kudos Rachel on a well run business. Looking forwarding to visiting again next summer!

When you have a good restaurant, you can make it hard to get a reservation. The hoops you have to jump through to get a reservation here makes it not worth the effort. If you want to jump, this is a great place . There are other great restaurants on ACK but not too many open in the off season.

Topper's has a lovely location overlooking the bay but I have seen nothing to justify the acclaim it seems to receive on review sites. The food is average and the prices are stratospheric. The signature dish, garganelli with lobster and crab, is a tasteless $60 plate of pasta. The steak was fatty and no far inferior to what one would get at a steakhouse chain. The people-watching is exceptional, though. The crowd is aggressively stylish and preppy, as befitting the island. Take a 15 minute drive to Island Kitchen and you will find vastly better food at fair prices.

We took our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) here tonight. I can’t believe we’ve never been here before (we’ve been coming to the island for years)! The waitstaff was attentive, very friendly, and brought us plenty of cheese for our meals. The sole was great… buttery, a little salty, and cooked perfectly. The pasta was really good with the other dishes. The kids meals weee great and the brownie dessert was perfect. We also enjoyed eating on the terrace. It was a very enjoyable evening. We will be back soon. Thank you.

We made a dinner reservation at this supposedly water front restaurant. When we arrived, the hostess steered us to a table in the very back of the restaurant. We asked if we could be seated at one of two available tables in a nicer area of the restaurant. She refused and said they were taken. We ended up sitting in the back of the restaurant only to notice that the other tables were empty during our meal. We found the atmosphere to be very casual and loud. Our meals were average - yet pricey. That said, the server did a nice job. Overall, we felt we were not treated well and the meals were average. Hard pressed to ever return.
