For those who've never been to Agios Myronas, the views from the scenic Cretan village are unsurpassed. And sitting high on a hill overlooking much of Heraklion Prefecture, Michalis' traditional restaurant would be a "must" even if the food were not perfect. We've lived on Crete for four years now and I've reviewed many stunning Cretan tavernas, this one ranks among the best. The fava and the horta here are without equal.

Just besides a nice stone church with a beautiful view you find this nice taverna. Good Cretan food from quality local products. The place is aesthetically decorated in Cretan style.It's beautiful to sit in the balcony or even better in the first floor terrace. Don' t miss to try the caprico. The owner is very polite showing the Cretan hospitality. It is worth while to drive to the top of Agios Myron village to enjoy the food and the whole enviroment!

My husband and I very much enjoyed our cooking class with Sevi and her family. We picked greens for our salad and met their goats and sheep before starting to prepare our evening meal. We had the opportunity to make 3 additional courses in addition to the salad. The baked peppers with feta were cooked in a wood oven which gave them a slightly smoky taste. Since I don't eat red meat, Sevi was able to adjust the main course so we could have chicken. Finally, Sevi's mother taught us how to make a sweet cheese filled pastry--so delicious! This was a great way to end our long weekend in Crete.

We placed a large order for 10 people. From ordering to delivery everything was stress free. Food was lovely, excellent value and would 100% recommend.

One of the best meals we had on tour. The meats were right off the spit, the Greek salad delicious and plentiful, the feta, tsatziki and pita fresh and tasty, the fried potatoes perfect and better yet, it was all you could eat. We definitely enjoyed this local eatery with its outdoor vine covered tables overlooking the valley below with its vineyards and olive groves. If in the area you should stop, you'll enjoy it as much as we did.

Right on the main square of Dafnes you will find this fine example of perfect Greece. Sit down shoulder to shoulder to the locals playing cards and drinking home made raki, have a laugh with them and just embrace the "no strees - no rush" lifestyle. We came here to expect a quick bite after a very recommended wine tasting at Douloufakis, but we soon embraced into a freshly cooked great Greek lunch. The owner made from scratch a chicken souvlaki for us, accompanied by the traditional fresh veggie. He claimed in greek "N.1 souvlaki" and he was quite close: freshly made, on a real grill. The farmers next to us provided fresh grapes while the owner offered us his homemade raki and an amazing "Glyko stafili" (preserved grapes in syrup). Simply recommended!

this small tavern offers exquisite,simple, Cretan dishes, the low prices were a suprise for us, based in Athens, try the local omelette with vegetables, all grown in their own garden backyard. Very warm owners, friendly and open to discussion, made nice proposals for touring around in the area...in all, what Creatan hospitality should be about, simplicity, tastefulness, generous owners (they offered us local sweets and raki free of charge). 100% suggested!!

We got here after the recommendation of a friend from Crete. Spot on! The food is unbelievable, tastes of the old. Manolis, the owner, will oblige you with his cooking but also with his “mantinades”, local poems of wisdom.

The food was extremely nice and delicious. We really love the goat stew, cooked to perfection. Very cosy atmosphere and we really appreciated their great hospitality. Thank you for looking after us very well!

We came across this place while staying in nearby Avgeniki. The owner Stefanos was very welcoming and set us up with some delicious pork, along with some good local wine and the smoothest tsikoudia (raki) I've ever tasted. It is family friendly, lovely and bright with big windows. Full of very friendly locals and a great place to spend some time.

We visited the tavern for two nights in a row and for Sunday lunch! The food was fresh and the chargrilled meats were unforgettable . The lamb and traditional goat with rice were our favourites. Yannis was amazing and gave us really good recommendations. We particularly liked, the local cheese and fava . I would highly recommend a visit

We visited today the Xypetra restaurant with some friends. The location is excellent, the restaurant is surrounded by the nature and the food is very tasty. I reccomend it for sure!!

After a lovely drive from the Doulafakis Winery, another must see, we found this wonderful taverna in the hills of Kato Asites, with a stunning view and fabulous food. The lamb chops may be some of the best we've ever had, the hortopita unbeatable, and the owners are so warm and welcoming. An experience you won't forget!

It's a shame that not many people/tourist know this place, but maybe it's also what makes it so spacial. I've been working in Crete the whole summer and when a Cretan friend recommended this place it sounded like a dream. I struggled to find it online so we actually had to contact the owner himself to get the address and everything. Can't even describe how unique this taverna is. There are 2 locations (yes, I've been more than once throughout the season!!) a Winter one which is super cute and tiny (almost feels like you're walking into somebody's medieval house when you step in) and a Summer location which is situated on the steps of what used to be an amphitheatre years ago. Honestly either locations are excellent, I believe the summer one opens from May till end of August. There is a "set" menu, meaning that you pay 20 euros per person and you receive dozens of different topics Cretan dishes. It's just unreal. You get to try everything you want and if you really like something you can ask more of it. It's basically an "all you can eat" but the quality is another level. They cook everything in front of you, they serve you the food that they eat themselves and it really feels so intimate. You can try plenty of types of wine (included in the 20 euros!!! Again, as many glasses as you want) and in the winter location you can even pour it from the barrels yourself, straight into your glass. Honestly it's the best and most characteristic restaurant I've been to here in the whole of the 10 months I've lived here and they really deserve to be spoken so highly of. It's just amazing, try it for yourself and you won't be disappointed!!

The food was excellent, large portions. I had cheese pies (the best I had in Crete) and spinach pies, the kids chicken fillet and chicken souvlaki. The red wine was not so good. The waiters were not very fluent in English, but everything came as ordered.

Absolutely incredible- very much a locals restaurant as the menu was only just Greek, however, the waiter was able to translate fluently and recommend. He was so incredibly friendly and helpful. I am a vegetarian and there was no food option for me, but I was able to tell them what I wanted (Gyro with no meat) and they were happy to do this for me with no issues. Very fairly priced and massively tasty - some of the best Tsaziki 👌

Very decent pizza and pasta overall and certainly the best in the neighborhood. The rest of the dishes are mediocre though. For burgers, meat, gyros, sandwiches, etc. there are better places.
