We have eaten here a number of times and have found the food and the service to be consistently good. The bar area is particularly cosy especially if it's cold enough for the fire to be lit. The menu has plenty of choice. My favourite is the thyme and lemon chicken. OH recently had one of the burgers which he... More

On arrival, we were greeted by very proficient and friendly staff who gave us all the necessary details of staying here. Our room was very good indeed. Four of us visited here for Mother's Day lunch and I must say it was the best Sunday lunch I have ever had the plates were not overly loaded but you were very full towards the end. I would like to come back here in order to try the a la carte menu

Perfect venue for a trip out over the Clees and then a very good quality lunch. Lovely setting and good local food with a choice of menus.. Nice to be able to have a pint of Locally brewed beer rather than the usual big breweries on offer as well as good selection of wines

We booked a family meal for my mum's 80th birthday and had pre-ordered our choices from a limited menu. We had drinks in the bar beforehand and then were shown our table nicely laid out with white table cloths etc, so were looking forward to a nice restaurant meal. The starters were ok if a little ordinary (prawn cocktail or... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your visit to us, I was concerned to read your review as having received an email from another member of your party a day or to later thanking us for the lovely meal and stating that it was a great success. I do take on board that you stated... More

This is my second visit to the Clive this year. Last time I wrote that service let it down and I was unable to award 5 stars despite the good food. This time the service was much improved and I have no problem in awarding 5 stars. Oh and the room was so much warmer too, no need to keep... More

Took 40 minutes from offering to starter arriving. Main course came within a minute of our started getting cleared - clearly some timing issues. I had a scallop starter: the scallops we did nicely and had a nice smoky flavour but there was virtually no pepper purée or garnish and the dish was quite dry. My wife had gravadlax which... More
