Called here the night after eating at the 'Sally' down the road, because we wanted something a bit more classy. They were v busy, and our table was right next to the door - they had no problem with changing it to one that was vacated a couple of mins later a bit further away. Just went for mains -... More

My wife and I have eaten here a number of times and previously I posted a very good review, but unfortunately standards are slipping. I was served today the worst steak I have eaten in recent years, it was bland and overcooked. It was difficult to tell whether this was just very poor fillet steak or very badly cooked, possibly... We were staying in Threlkeld for 3 nights and choose to eat here for two of the nights. It offered very good choice which suited the four of us. Tasty food, good local ales, very busy with a nice atmosphere. It did get a little stuffy in the middle room with the bar, a little fresh air would have been... More

Arrived on spec around 6pm - all tables marked reserved but the staff found us a place. Food arrived very promptly and enjoyed by all. Great beer but felt that £4.50 a pint was a bit on the steep side. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, good choice for children.

Wanting to avoid the bedlam of trying to park in Keswick during Easter half term we decided to try the Horse and Farrier, and what a great decision that was! Easy parking and outside tables aplenty make this a great family friendly pub. I had the Steak and Ale pie, excellent value at less than £11, one of us had... More

We dropped into The Horse and Farrier for lunch. Service was swift; food was good pub grub standard. Ambiance was relaxing and unrushed. Excellent portion size. Very tasty lasagne, with standard garlic bread and salad sides. The house burger was well presented...with the now standard chips in a basket! The major negative was the price of the local real ale.... More

Very poor. Room was Superior but very small and bathroom had mould. Toilet seat in disrepair unsightly. Had to request a dried blood stain to be removed from room wall. Booked a meal which was very disappointing inedible, large solid lump found in the ale pie which definitely was not meat. Staff offered to change meal but put off by what... More

My hubby found this place on google as we wanted some lunch, the waiter was really lovely and polite and friendly and the food was really fab - large portions and reasonable prices. Would recommend - only reason not a 5 was couldn't seem to get attention of anyone when we needed 2nd round of drinks and other half had... More

Booked the Horse and Farrier for a meal on the 5th March to celebrate my 50th birthday with my wife and parents. We've been here many times and always had a fantastic meal which is the reason I booked it. What a disappointment it turned out to be. The menu was very limited and when we arrived (at 6:30pm) we... We own a cottage in threkeld so over the years have been here on and off. Usually go because it's convenient but never been too impressed. Don't know if it's changed hands but my self and my husband thought last night was really good. My sea bass with linguine was excellent and the ginger pudding superb. Long may this continue!
