We went on a Sunday for roast. Not disappointed! We were greeted with a warm smile and shown to our table, my girlfriend has an allergy and they had printed her, her own menu with everything that she could eat safely. It was a really...More

We visited the Alford Arms as a family on Bank Holiday August weekend and it was a memorable afternoon, with a scrumptious meal. The menu is very vegetarian friendly and very healthy too - which is perfect for us. The Beer and Wine choice are...More

We went back after a long time away and were not disappointed. All the usual things were still great, food quality, variety, beer, wine, and service. However we were very disappointed to find that they had run out of roast beef dinners on a Sunday...More

So, how would you liven up a rather dull Thursday lunchtime? In my case I ventured to my local Alford Arms having decided to eat properly and have at least a two course lunch. Before even reading the new Autumn Menu I was seduced by...More

Love this place. Took my friends here for lunch, visiting from Canada and they loved it. We didn't book but luckily there was a table for 4. There was no hesitation in tasting a few of the ale's before deciding which one to have. We...More

Hi, the fire was very serious and the current estimate is that the Alford Arms will re-open at the end of August 2016 after a complete refurbishment of the trading floor and rebuild of the living accommodation - which is... More

Yes, I do believe they do a vegetarian option on Sundays. There would be something on the menu for you!

A warm and welcoming country dining pub with open fire and muddy boots and dog friendly. People often describe the Alford as a gastro-pub, but we're not really comfortable with that tag. The term sounds too restauranty and cheffy. We've always wanted the Alford to be a great pub, where you just happen to be able to get great food. So tables in the dining room are available to book, but there's also the bar for drinkers with tables available on a first come, first served basis. The seasonal menu and daily specials balance originality with more traditional fare and we are firm believers in using local produce wherever possible. Hanging baskets and window boxes adorn the terrace and provide an alfresco dining area. Alongside is the village green and historic Ashridge Estate is right on our doorstep. Ramblers, dog walkers, bluebell admirers, mushroom foragers and cyclists regularly emerge from the surrounding countryside ready to combine their activity with a refreshing stop at the Alford Arms.
