My husband and I went for our Valentine's meal here last night and I just had to review because it was nothing but a disappointment. Firstly our first initial drinks arrived after our starter arrived, the idea was meant to be a glass of bubbles on arrival. Then our baked Camembert didn't arrive with bread. Our main course of steak... More

Celebrated our sons Birthday with 7 family members. Some of us had starters which were good, the leak and potato soup I had was excellent but served without a bread roll which I find rather unusual. For the mains we had a mix of fish, steaks and chicken. All the meals were good except my chicken which was served only... More

The location sounds attractive. It's right by the canal. The pictures on the website look cosy. The 'shpeel' makes it sound perfect for a high end Sunday roast. Well, the canal is overlooked by ugly housing, It may be more appealing in Summer but only if the car park were not in the way. The decor inside was a little... More

Firstly watch out for the car wrecking potholes at the entry to the car park! Been before a while back and things have slipped badly. Waited far too long for drinks to arrive. Ordered the 'best' steak on the menu rare which turned up over cooked and just poor quality. Ask if everything was ok with meals as I finished.... More

Having had a brilliant Christmas meal here we decided to go as a family. Disappointing. Food cold, wine warm and an expensive evening out:(

The menu was unusual, creative and really tasty! I loved the cauliflower soup with lobster in it, as well as the use of seasonal veggies, and my favourite cocktail of champagne and sloe and berry gin!

popped in for a quick bits to eat with friend. The place was desolate and cold and stank of stale beer. Looked like staff were sitting at bar as bar lady was too busy chatting to them to notice me. Eventually got service and sat down. Awful shared platter with warm wine. We left after 15 minutes. The place was... More

Sunday roast was great but I ordered quickly and without really reading the menu as our waiter returned to the table constantly pushing us for a decision. Food was lovely but our very pleasant but stressy waiter needs to calm down and hide the panic! Birthday wasn't acknowledged even though I received an email asking what the occasion was. We'll... It was freezing as we crossed the car park but entering the doors of the Old Mill, we were hit by the welcome heat and a big smile from a lady on reception. Oh I almost forgot the pig. You will have to go and see. We were shown to our table immediately, which was in the centre of the... More

On arrival I took an imeadiate liking to The Old Mill which is located next to the Grand Union Canal Berkhampstead. My first impressions, upon entering impressed. Full of character very traditional English pub/restaurant. The 3 of us were shown to our table, the server didn't rush us to order drinks, I felt very relaxed. Saturday night although very busy...
