The current owners are keeping standards high to the very end; we had another fantastic meal. Looking forward to seeing what the new owners will do. Wishing them well, as this has been a wonderful restaurant for over 10 years now.

I have been to Martins Pond many times over the years, but not for some time, so when I visited with two friends yesterday to celebrate our birthdays was blown away by our lovely meal. It was a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere and even had a log fire (I know it is the end of April, but we were... More

Worst meal ever. Food awful and the land lady is incredibly rude and has a terrible attitude. She should not be in a customer service environment. And she isn't child friendly. Stay well away until she leaves which is apparently soon!

I have asked Trip Advisor to take this review down on the basis that this guest was barred because they made a threat that Mel 'ought to watch herself' and that she 'needs luck in the looks department' This being an obvious retaliation review Trip Advisor have said it fulfils their rules so remains I guess the only solace this... Hi Dodoxy Thank you for your review and pleased to hear that our food and service are good I have written several responses regarding pricing and I can assure other readers that very rarely do guests feel that our fresh food from local suppliers, freshly prepared by trained chefs is not exceptional value. But for an idea for others who... More

This is a pleasant family owned and run restaurant which serves good food at a reasonable price. The welcome is warm ( with a log fire in winter ) and the staff are polite and friendly. It has a lovely garden with ornamental pond and lighting which is perfect for a summer afternoon drink with snacks, and a conservatory restaurant... More

After a number of years away it was lovely to be back at Martins Pond. One of our favourite restaurants and we were not disappointed. Food was as good as ever and service was friendly. The pub was looking really lovely - loved the outdoor area and the huge doors in the conservatory. My eight year old loved his sausage,... More

Perfect spot after a long walk. We booked a table for a late lunch and after showing up an hour late we were welcomed with open arms. Even our dogs got a treat with biscuits waiting for them!! The food was served with a big smile and was very tasty. Really couldn't fault anything about this place. The setting a... More

Our Son's small, informal wedding reception for 30, was held yesterday in the conservatory of this delightful pub. Landlady, Mel, understood exactly what we wished for & expertly provided us with a prettily decorated conservatory. Efficient staff served our delicious, three course Sunday lunch quietly & speedily, despite the rest of the pub buzzing with every table tucking into their... More

We visited for Sunday lunch. Its probably a good pub for drinks outside (if that's what you're after), as the location is lovely but the food was average, there's far nicer in Berkhamsted! Staff with no charm, welcome or charisma....although polite and efficient. We ate in the conservatory part off to the side, the furniture and table settings etc was... More

Greeted by no available parking. Seated at a table right by the bar - happily we were moved. Ordered drinks. Beer came. Think they went to Pinot to get the Grigio. Eventually it came, and I poured it..... Food excellent. No complaints, but when it came to deserts had to get up to get some service, by which stage my... More
