Favourite for years now. Vargabar is a smaller little joint with some real soul! Coffee is great and the food are always fantastic, topped off by the awesome staff you have running the place. Packs out pretty early on weekends so get in early to get yourself a good seat!

great coffee, very helpful and friendly wait staff. Excellent food. Away from the main street, but close by, which means you don't have the constant noise of a busy street. Bit of a tight squeeze inside though.

What a great little find! Lovely little cafe with a varied menu. I can recommend the delicious halloumi burger and polenta fries. The smoothies are heavenly and for once in Sydney I found a decent coffee! Service was hilarious - Simon is great!

This is a tiny and lovely cafe with a few tables indoor and some chairs outdoor. The coffee is one of my favourite in Sydney and staff always welcoming. Every day they have a special dish for 10$. I only tried the quesadias (that's for Tuesday) which was okay. They also have one socket where you can plug your PC... More

Varga used to be great. The baked eggs. The parties. The waitress. Mico. A few years ago the coffee prices started to creep up - my mate saying it was now the most expensive coffee in Newtown. The manager claimed this was because peeps would just sit and leech the wifi. Oh well, it's a shame. Now it simply exists,... More

I am a breakfast hound. Most places leave me disappointed - I mean seriously how can you burn toast and fry eggs badly? Obviously it's easy. Not at Vargabar. Truly beautifully sourced and prepared food. Perfect hollandaise not that crap from a packet - oh no - the real deal. Excellent service even if they are busy. You can phone... More

My husband and I have eaten breakfast and brunch here a few times. The food is good, and so is the service. Thsy don't have too many vegetarian options so if you like variety you won't go many times before you move on to a different venue. The staff are friendly and the coffee is good.

Been here twice so far. Once hungover and the staff were very accommodating to our needs! The coffee is great, the breakfasts were perfect and they make delicious relishes. Couldn't finish my plate even though I desperately wanted to. Also, the 90s music medleys made me happy. Definitely coming back for a regular outing.

We called during the week to reserve a table for 7 people on the Sunday at 10am. Arrived at 9.45am and no table had been reserved - but when the staff checked, there was a message on paper requesting the booking. A bit of shuffling of tables, they managed to squeeze us all in. After that start, a bit worried... More
