Our Uber driver recommended this place earlier in our trip. Even though we were in the CBD we decided to try it out and venture into suburbia. The service was fantastic and the owner (I assume) was traditionally working the diners as they do in...Italy. Food was fabulous and the cocktails amazing. Will def be back next time in Sydney.More

It was a milestone celebration for my wife, so it had to be special. We were in Norton St to watch Ferrari, so when Grappa was recommended to us, it seemed logical to maintain the Italian theme. We have travelled extensively in Italy so our...expectations were high. Awesome wine list, with many Italian regions represented. We went all out for a 2014 Calabretta Vigne Vecchie from Sicily, which was decanted for us as we sat at the bar having pre-dinner drinks. That wine just got better and better through our meal, and was definitely worth the $130. Standouts in the food department were the Tuna Carpaccio (just divine and ample serving), the Gnocchi (freshly made on site), the Barramundi and the slow-cooked Barramundi. The "potato chips" side extra turned out to be a huge plate of French fries and were spot on. The wait staff were numerous, friendly, professional, and attentive. We never had to refill our glasses ourselves, and for a restaurant with over 100 diners that level of service is special. I could not believe the size of the kitchen compared to the number of diners. I do not know how they do it, other than to marvel at the expertise in getting their systems flowing. Waiting time between ordering and serving and between courses was not noticeable, and in fact we had to ask for a delay before mains just to sit, sip, and soak in the atmosphere, which was that of a restaurant filled with happy people and no dramas. During our time there, the owner/manager arrived and was working the tables, talking to guests and even pitching in to take orders and collect plates. I never saw him having to deal with any issue. He checked in on us twice, the second time to offer us both a complimentary Limoncello. This is quite common in Italy, but the first time we had experienced it back home. And it was good Limoncello, not cheap crap. Overall, our expectations were exceeded. It was the most expensive dinner we had ever had (not by much), but as I said, it was a special occasion. We left happy and full as googs.More

Outstanding Italian food. Large, noisy with great service. Consistently high standards. Great wine list. Meatballs are excellent. Figs in prosciutto and calamari are all first class. Be sure to book because it gets busy. Guaranteed to please.

First time here (but not our last). The staff were many and wonderful in ensuring you were well taken care of. We chose a mix of meals, oysters, calamari, pasta, risotto which were all perfect. We shared a dessert of Bombolini on a bed of...Creme Anglaise which was SO good. My husband isn’t a dessert lover but managed to eat more than his share. Next visit I will order 2 portions to ensure I have my own to enjoy. Will definitely return.More

While the service was ok and the venue was good the food was disappointing. My $55 fillet steak came with no sides (the sprinkles on the top were in Italian so you did not know what they were). The waiter failed to remind me and...missed an opportunity to 'upsell'. I thn had to ask for a salad. My medium-rare steak was certainly medium, under seasoned and bland. The Tiramisu two of us had had no coffee flavour at all. On complaining the manager/owner knocked off the price of the Tiramisu.More

Was taken aback by the packed house. Place jumps — noisy inside. Pricey. Ordered lamb shoulder for one $44. It was 4 forks of meat around the bone. Sauce reduction was very tasty. Ordered chips, tasted like out of frozen packets similar to McD’s chips....Risotto was average. Atmosphere amazing with large tables filled by happy families. Extensive wine list with many whites & reds in 3 figuresMore

Four of us enjoyed an excellent dinner with friendly staff. The restaurant was packed and yet the service was efficient and staff were pleasant. We enjoyed a variety of entrees including the egg plant parmigiana, fresh oysters and zucchini flowers. The mains we enjoyed were...maltagliata pasta with mushrooms and Italian sausage, Cone Bay barramundi fillet and fresh figs wrapped in prosciutto. Two of us shared the delicious hazelnut souffle with coffee and whisky gelato.More

My husband and I have been to the restaurant twice before over the years, just the two of us. It must have made an impression on him, as when I told him to choose anywhere to celebrate his birthday, he chose Grappa. So we came...for dinner on a Sunday night, apparently at the end of the hardest day that the staff can remember. We (unfortunately!) are a bit of a tricky family (dietary wise)...as we include a coeliac daughter and an incredibly lactose intolerant husband. Add in a gorgeous 88 year old father in law, and another "foodie" daughter. Hmmmm. Anyway, the place was pumping post lockdown. Many, many Italian/Australian families and functions just winding up. But, the night was just extraordinarily lovely. The whole family are still raving about the quality of the food, the kindness of the staff, and the generosity of spirit shown on what must have been such a difficult, exhausting day for the restaurant. The waitress could not have been more pleasant, and helpful, and patient....despite the strain of her very long day. At the end of a fabulous meal, we declined the option of dessert as we had ordered so many dishes. But the staff made sure that my husband got such a lovely surprise of a wonderful little dessert celebration (lactose free!). Even our coeliac daughter was remembered, getting a gluten free treat so that she could join in the Happy Birthday rendition. And NONE of this birthday sweetness was arranged by our family. And despite the pressure of post lockdown hospitality stress, the restaurant looks and feels like an "occasion", and the staff treated us as if my husband's little birthday family celebration was as important to them, as it was to all of us. It truly was a remarkable night. We are so grateful for such an incredibly generous and hospitable night. Many, many thanks from a very appreciative family.More

This is the second end of lockdown we have celebrated here and while I hope I don’t have to celebrate anymore I will definitely find an excuse to celebrate something here again. Amazing food, service and a wine list with the most comprehensive Italian choices...I have ever seen, i can see no reason not to love this place. Thanks again for an amazing time, we look forward to coming back soon.More
