We had a delicious dinner there on the 26th with 2 friends of ours. The food and service was superb! I had a special salad with goat cheese and ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta. Molto Buono! All of our food was delicious. Small place,...More

We have eaten at a number of restaurants in the local area, including a couple that we rated 5 stars. This place outstrips all of them in every department. Service was excellent: swift without being pressing and friendly. We were welcomed with a glass of...More

We were visiting different villages and by luck we arrived to Monticchiello at lunch time and came across this nice little restaurant right by the cit walls. We tried the local pasta specialty, picci, and we totally loved it!

My husband and I shared a very memorable meal overlooking the gorgeous Tuscan countryside at Osteria La Porta. The food was some of the best we've had in our travels. Very, very good. As we were celebrating our anniversary, they were kind enough to give...More

A really enjoyable lunch - very fresh food, and delightfully tasty. Also enjoyed the local white wine. Great scenic views from here. Well worth a visit, but you must book.

We discovered this restaurant through Rick Steves guidebook and it was well worth the drive. Reservations are a must, especially for a terrace table which is also a must. The food was one of our best meals in Tuscany. We had the asperagus tort for...More

This restaurant is busy presumably because it has good reviews. We'd hoped for a romantic dinner on a patio with sweeping hillside views but unfortunately we were crammed in the corner of the patio (fit to seat 10 people comfortably but they cram in 25)....More

I have just eaten one of my favourite meals ever whilst here! The restaurant is located in a small village - you're able to park outside or a short wall away. You must book a table in advance! Our table was out on the terrace...More

This is one of the smaller towns in Tuscany but worth visiting, especially Osteria La Porta! The food and views were outstanding! Try the barley risotto - had nothing like that before. It had a great family feel and yet also romantic. Highly recommend!

write the owner and she will certainly respond. She lives nearby so normally is open most of the year.
Rick Steeves says that there are only two sittings at lunch time: 12:30 and 2:00. Is this true? And are reservations necessary? We will be traveling in late April.

The tavern is located in proximity of the entrance door of Monticchiello, a nice medieval village near Pienza. With its few places (it is better to reserve), it proposes an elegant room, furnished with taste in typical tuscan style, it is comfortable and familiar. The courtesy and the professionality of the owner, Daria, young and passionate sommelier, are an optimal guide in the choice of the plates and the wines. During the beautiful season it is possible to eat in the terrace, enjoying a wonderful sight on Pienza, the Val d'Orcia and the Amiata.Accommodation in Monticchiello- The residence "Il Torrino" is a panoramic apartment obtained from the restauration of an ancient tower belonging to the boundaries of the medieval suburb Monticchiello. The structure, in proximity of the principal access to the village, has been completely restructured from the owner with taste and scrupulous care of the details. At guests' disposal a double room and a living-room with couch-bed and TV; panoramic view on Pienza and the Val d’Orcia. The prices for the weekly stay change according to the season and are comprehensive of heating, final cleaning, household linen. For briefer stays contact the owner.
