It's always a delight lunching from Chandrettan's Hotel. The place is a moderate shack, nestled in a lovely coconut grove near the beach, offering a lunch of rice with a variety of awesome seafood in traditional recipes, at reasonable rates. This is one place where...you would not want to eat alone, because the portions are served in ample quantities for two people. Seated on simple wooden benches, at tables covered with floral plastic table covers that remind you of yore, without AC or even fans to boast of, despite the heat that builds up, you're always able to enjoy the food piping hot, straight from the kitchen. You have the choice of selecting the fish from the kitchen that will be cooked for you. We always order 'thala' [fish head] curry, entire fried fish, gorgeous prawn fry marinated in spices, the likes. There will be rice with traditional Kerala vegetable dishes and gravies as side. No dessert is offered post lunch, but you can always help yourselves to a plantain or two from the bunch hung nearby. Chandrettan and his all-male kitchen crew are very friendly and always greet you with warm smiles. Chandran Pillai's Hotel is that place where you go without thinking twice, and end up feeling light-hearted and heavy in the stomach, feeling very good.More

This restaurant is very expensive like 5 star and looks like thattukada. Fish fry cost from 500 to 3000 and tastes just ok. And it's not recommended for family.

If you are in Kollam then head to this place for truly authentic Kerala food!! Nearby beach ..Don't expect this place to have silver cutlery or fine dining ambience but what this place can give is lip smacking food. Various kind of fish curry like...Thala Curry ( Fish head in spicy red chilly broth ) , Crab roast ( Marinated crab roasted in kerala spices & coconut oil) .Thumps up to the food.Marine catch is fresh!! Expect good crowd during afternoons but that's the time to head to this place! Disclaimer :- Place is a Cross between A Shack & 3 star hotel . Only recommend this for quality food.Big let down in menu for Vegan's.Vegetarians do have some quality kerala food options.More

This is a hole in the wall cafe that serves really good kerala style sea food. We went for lunch and the owner asked us to go to the kitchen to see what fish is there that we like. We ordered for meals with shrimps...and squid. Food was really tasty and cheap as compared to other places. Service was friendly and good. Its a bit difficult to find this place but we had google maps for the rescue.More
