The restaurant is housed in a traditional old fashioned house of kerala with several...rooms inside. The interior is neatly maintained and the restaurant was full of customers during lunchtime. There is also a lounge with some sofas for those who can wait when it is full. The hospitality was quiet welcome. I had Chicken Biriyani( malabar type) and and my wife had a regular meal with fish fry. Both the items were good and the rates are quiet mid range and I could see the lots of employees working around, having regular lunch there. Wheat house is situated almost at the busiest part of Kannur . Have a good parking place around the restaurant. In the 1st site we get a feel of an old ancestral home and bring up memories of olden times. There are separate family rooms...available for people who would like privacy and calm environment. The service is good and food is awesome. The biryani served still have its traditional taste, really superb. Food served is good and at reasonable price. At lunch hours at times it might be crowded but has a big waiting area so its manageable. This restaurant also has take away facility. Not necessary that you have to go all the way there,order and then wait for your take away because Pre-Order can be done for take away. Hotel staff were very welcoming and directed us to a private dining room adjacent to the restaurant to eat our meal in peace and tranquillity. The quality of the fish in their biryani is outstanding and we ended up ordering some more. The only draw-back...is their toilets need refurbishing and at least one western toilet must be installed for the foreigners amongst their clientele. This restaurant provides a good traditional kerala food. But certainly missing variety. Price is ok. Food is good. Ambience not best but good enough. This restaurant is available only in noon. No dinner. All in all its an average restaurant.
