This place will remain the best place to eat in Kannur and we were so glad, we found something which everyone loved. When I entered the restuarant I was impressed with theme and the layout but really disappointed with the food, not good value for money at all. Menu was two pieces of paper stapled together that was completely stained with God knows what. We ordered number...of things but were disappointed with flavour and quality. After an amazing visit to Ancestral Heritage Homes of a very dear Army colleague and friend of 45 years, we landed up at Nouka for Lunch..this was my hosts first venture too..very welcoming unique ambience of a ship reminded me of Mumbai in early 70s...when I looked forward to be entertained by my Naval course mates from the NDA..so far so good..the order was Fried Fish and Fish Curry - Rice..the fried fish was stale, cold and refried making it tough and tasteless..fish curry too was very ordinary and appeared to be leftovers of the previous night..the paisam was a far cry from its name.. overall a disappointing day to an otherwise enlightening, enchanting and educative visit to the rich customs and traditions of Kerala enriching HeritageMore
The first thing that hits u is the unique decor. The decor is that of a ship that too made beautifully with a deck that seats people. The kids will love this place. We were shopping in and around Kannur when it was time for lunch. So we stopped by at Nouka, and we were in for a treat ! There is good parking available, which is a boon in the city. Once inside, we were in a...big hall with the cutout of a ship. The upper half of the ship (deck) is the first floor dining area. The bottom is the kitchen. And the rest of the hall is the ground dining section. We sat downstairs, and there is adequate seating available. There are two large tower air conditioners, along with other a/c units that maintain a pleasant temperature. We also went upstairs on "the deck" to see the beautiful ship arrangements. The nautical theme is evident everywhere. There are large ropes knotted into nets, fake driftwood and other maritime embellishments abound. We really liked the vibe! The food was excellent. The mutton biryani was just right, so were the large porottas (two are sufficient for one person because of the size) and the pearl fish masala in banana leaf preparation (Karimeen Pollichathu). The chilly chicken felt different, some of us liked it and others didnt. When we ordered ice cream, they gave us double dollops as that's the standard there. It was all very satisfying indeed. As a side note, the service was also very courteous and they served everything in clean and tidy plates. We would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kannur.More
