Booked in for lunch on a wet dull day. (PS. Those who didn't book were left disappointed - and hungry!) Chose 2 courses with matching wines. The food and wine combined splendidly. The service was quiet and unobtrusive. While we were waiting for our table, we were treated at the tasting bar to a review of Mt Difficulty wines including... More

I had looked forward to this experience but sadly the cool haughty pretentiousness of the meeting staff immediately alerted my friend and I that we might not be in the right place for us. Yes the view is spectacular, the menu well throughout and the prices although up there were probably worth it - but why stay when not made... More

Had high expectations going here for lunch as these rate highly amongst my favourite wines. It did not disappoint. We both ordered the steak, and it was delicious. Friendly staff, great views. We will definitely be back!

Once of the best wine lunch experiences you can get in New Zealand. Super view from up high coupled with good quality food and wine. Staff is friendly and engaging. You may want to make reservations, as they can be quite packed.

We enjoyed a late lunch on a busy Saturday. A little spot of wine tasting helped decide on the wine to drink with our meals. The food was superb, in fact the service, views, food and wine were all superb. Once we finished our lunch we were able to spend time on the terrace enjoying more wine and the views.

Enjoyed a truly wonderful dining experience at this restaurant recently. Beautiful food, cooked and presented exquisitely, great wine and excellent staff. We arrived a wee bit late, and felt ghastly about it - not to worry, the staff put us totally at ease. Lovely atmosphere. The steak, venison and duck were amazing. Lovely setting with a rural peaceful view.

We had an amazing venison meal at Mt Difficulty wines. It was one of the most impressive meals I have ever had and the crushed minted peas superb! The wine tasting was very good too and the views from the restaurant were fantastic across the valley overlooking vineyards and craggy outcrops. As we were travelling Easter Sunday we had thought... Well worth the drive from Queenstown. Beautiful lunch in the most picturesque location and great wine. Might be advisable to book if you want a table especially outside. The staff were lovely and we were lucky enough to get a table without a booking.

Driving up to Mount Difficulty is amazing. When you reach the top the views are spectacular! The setting is really something to write home about. We arrived and much to our dismay we weren't greeted very nicely. One look at our baby's pram and obviously that wasn't something that was welcome here. We were asked if we preferred inside or... Description
The Winery Restaurant at Mt Difficulty provides a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy a delicious lunch. The restaurant is open daily between 12 noon and 4pm. On a fine day the outdoor terrace is the perfect spot to take in the flavours of the region while enjoying the uniquely Central Otago views. The chef produces imaginative cuisine, and the menu showcases the freshest of produce, with a choice of substantial fare or platters to share. The kitchen is open and the dining environment is casual. All main meal options come with suggested wine matches, though diners are welcome to make their own choices during a complimentary wine tasting at our Cellar Door tasting counter. Reservations are essential - demand is high year round and much of our seating is weather dependent.
