The landlord is the perfect host - friendly without being patronising. We ate there twice and the food was excellent.

We have lunch around 6 times a year. The welcome is always very warm and gives the impression we have been remembered. Food is excellent and the Bakewell tart is a homemade gastronomic delight. Either arrive early or book though.

We popped in for a drink on our first day in Hartington, good service, warm fire and dog friendly. A great alternative place when in the area.

There is street parking in the centre of the village but it is a popular start point for walks in the area and can be busy so you might by lucky with a space or it may be they’re all occupied.

We went for lunch and it was a bar service, i'm not sure about evening meals but its quite casual so i would imagine its bar meals in the evening as well.
