We have lunch around 6 times a year. The welcome is always very warm and gives the impression we have been remembered. Food is excellent and the Bakewell tart is a homemade gastronomic delight. Either arrive early or book though.

Lovely food as normal, as we always visit whenever we return to the Peak District. Service was very average, however the staff redeemed themselves as they immediateley offered free cheese board and ice cream, as we waited for our vegatables to acompany our main course. It is always good to see David and his friendly staff. Will return again.

We popped in for a drink on our first day in Hartington, good service, warm fire and dog friendly. A great alternative place when in the area.

We have lunch every couple of months or so and the welcome is always extremely warm. The food is great with a good range of tastes. Desserts are enormous and the homemade Bakewell Tart is out of this world according to my wife. Never had a poor meal. It is not the biggest of places and Hartington can get busy... More

We had the casseroles, lamb and venison. Seated nearby the chimney after a long walk, our dishes were well appreciated. Very good quality meat, melting in your mouth. The sauce made with wine was full of flavour. Served with a choice of mash potatoes, boiled potatoes and some veggies, it was divine!!!

We went here for an Easter weekend treat on the Sunday at lunchtime. The adults in the party had starters and then the roast dinners (some beef, some pork) and we also had scampi and children's food too. All the food was tasty, hot (where applicable) and plenty of it. Service was very pleasant and quick especially since they were... More

Just returned from a short break - visited the Devonshire Arms on quite a few occasions - I have to say this is a lovely pub - food excellent quality, especially their local pit. The staff could not have been more friendly and inviting - well worth a visit

Great choice for lunch on Thursday. Busy pub, welcomed into a relatively small bar + 2 dogs. Good choice of food, freshly prepared & excellent ales. Delighted we went to The Devonshire Arms, rather than The Charles Cotton. Set us up for our 2nd leg back to Alstonfield.

I didn't check Trip Advisor before selecting this place from several eateries in the centre of the village - no 3G or 4G in this part of the world; had I done so we would have been very disappointed to have been served two very average meals. Friendly staff though.

This is a fantastic, friendly pub. The host was very welcoming and convivial; all the staff were warm and helpful. Food was really tasty - good choice including gluten free and smaller portions for smaller appetites. Would absolutely recommend!
