Le Bindi is the very essence of a good restaurant. You dont make reservations for a table, you make reservations for a chair and then you share 1 big table with all the other guests. You get 10 or so wonderfull dishes over the course...of a few hours. The service is amazing and all in all, its an experience you dont want to miss. If you ever go to Monte San Savino, do yourself a favour and go here!More
I was so incredibly excited to find this little spot, and ecstatic to be able to book a seat. It seemed the perfect place to experience the best of Tuscan cooking. The trip advisor reviews led me to expect something truly special. It just wasn't....The first many courses were breads & crostini - tray after tray. A fig bread, bread topped with ham and local grapes, bread topped with a truly divine ragu. A rabbit chicken pate on bread. These were all so appealing that I decided to simply deal with the inevitable upset tummy of being gluten sensitive. Besides, there were no other options, and I don't like whining about it - even though I'd let them know I was gluten sensitive when making the reservation. Next up was a slice of pear with a mozzarella foam. Which was more impressive-sounding than it was in fact. Next came a pasta dish, which was good. Finally came the main courses... and.... oh boy. A rabbit stew which was nice enough - but, you know? It's just a stew. Then came ANOTHER stew - a duck stew that had been so overcooked that the duck was tough and utterly absent of flavor. And then - and this was just - sad... Chianina 'tagliata' - which ideally should be rare, thin slices of gorgeous beef. But alas, it was a stew of big chunks of gray, overcooked and inedible meat, indistinguishable from a badly cooked pot roast.
Considering the reviews, I can only guess that the restaurant was having an off-day, or offloading the week's leftovers. Or that people are so impressed by the incredible number of courses that they don't really notice that none are very well exectuted.
I left disappointed, bloated, and in a hurry. The staff is lovely, the place is adorable - I just wish they'd had any options for gluten sensitivity, vegetarians, and that they'd not ruined a beautiful cut of meat.More
We were the only English speakers at this table for 20, and we felt like we were at a dinner party at a friend's house. Dinner was fun. Multiple courses arrived family style; our favorites were the ricotta stuffed pumpkin flowers and the rabbit with...carrot sauce. Wine and dessert were yummy as well. Paulo speaks English and was able to describe each item to us.More
A real treat! Absolutely fabulous. Up there with with Michelin-stared restaurants, indeed greater than some we could name. Value-for-money was off the charts. Amazing what a staff of two (chef/girlfriend and sever/owner) can do.
Some advice, pace yourself: it is a tasting menu and the...courses keep on coming. The rabbit was the last course before dessert and most of us were too full to do it justice. (God it was good.)
There is no choice, you get what the chef gives you, so make sure she has any dietary requirement in mind. We had one shellfish allergy and one Celiac: no problem and no one even knew.
It seats 18 and we took the entire restaurant, though on the day we were only 12. We made it up with a hefty tip.More
We have now been to Il Bindi 3 times and leave feeling totally spoiled. Christina and Paolo are a great team and provide excellent service. For a very reasonable price you will get treated to many courses and share the table with new people from...all over the world. The food is beyond excellentMore
This place is amazing. There is only room for 24 people so you have book like 3months before. For only 25 euro's per person you get 14-18 courses. You can't choose from a menu, the chef makes a daily menu, you eat what you want...and what you can. If I'm ever in the neighbourhood again I will most certainly visit this place againMore
Le Bindi features one large table so dining will be a communal experience. I was lucky enough to be visiting with a large group of friends so we had the place to ourselves, and what a treat it was.
We were served course after course...of utter joy. Wonderful flavours, everything was explained carefully to us by our extremely welcoming hosts and any food preferences were catered for too.
The only problem we had was resisting taking seconds of each course as the dishes just kept coming. It's hard to know exactly when to stop eating but hard to find the willpower even if you do.
Just a wonderful experience, do it.More
