Local restaurant at its best

During two separate ski trips to the Aosta Valley with a group of friends we've eaten here five times. This is a bustling restaurant frequented by local people and very well run by smiling and personable staff. The menu offers a variety of foods from pizzas, meat dishes and some veggie options, all extremely well cooked and nicely presented. I should stress that it is very local and a little bit of Italian does help. Prices are very reasonable by anyone's standards and portions are filling. I highly recommend this place so, if in the area, book in advance to ensure a table

What a great Trattoria

Great down to earth Italian food and atmosphere. Portion sizes are more than generous with moderate pricing. I am a strong eater, but I am sorry to say that Desert was out of the question. Would I have known the superb choice of sweet treats, I would have reconsidered my order or at least asked for adjusted portions. Great restaurant 👌 and I am looking forward to my next visit. Wonderful family restaurant

We have been staying in Pollein for a few years and have been enjoying the wonderful people and food at this local restaurant. Although few Americans know of this area in Italy we discover a welcoming at this restaurant that had has us returning year after year.

Very tasty food and friendly service

My friend and I were staying a few hundred metres away so this was a handy spot. We just about got seats in the bar area while on another night the place was fully booked and it was also closed an evening. Great service - very welcoming albeit limited English. Food was very good - specialising in fish dishes and pasta and pizza. Highly recommend but can be v busy. Good value too.

Fantastic local eaterie that offers high quality meals for a reasonable price

As a group of 13 we stayed in Pollein for three nights. We went to Genzianella on the first night and all enjoyed it so much we went back there again on the third night. Everybody in our group of 13 had high praise for their meals and I particularly enjoyed their pizzas. The only downside is that it does get very busy so I would recommend booking at weekends. Also, the service can be a little slow, however the quality of the food makes it worthwhile

Good pizza

We found out about this place from the host where we stayed. They recommend the food so we tried it. Ate a pizza each and they tasted good. Nice thin and somewhat crispy bread. We had the Cabrese and vegetariana. The atmosphere is ok with some loud noise from all the guests talking and it felt very local. Service was good and the host even gave me my espresso for free. Seems like a lot of local people come to eat here.

Excellent and economical trattoria, serving fresh-made pasta, pizzas and other options. You might arrive and think that it is closed - doesn't look very active from the outside. We arrived at 19.15hr (when it opens for the evening) and by 20hr it was full (and all locals - always a good sign!). The food is fabulous. Large choice, and large portions. We tried, pasta (starter), pizza and the sliced beef (my wife raved about it for days). The house wine was very good too. Two courses for two persons, plus wine came to 45 euros total. Amazing value. Very recommended.

It's always a joyous moment when something you hadn't planned works wonderfully in your favour and just by chance something beyond expectations lands on your lap. Travelling back from Greece last month, we stopped at one of our favourite hotels pre-booked, (The Hotel Diana) assuming we would take lunch as always in the restaurant beneath the hotel. However our lovely host informed us that on Sundays the restaurant did not open. Our host recommended two restaurants one in the lower part of Pollein a small Italian village in the mountains about thirty minutes from Mont Blanc. We checked out the first restaurant and thought we might take a look at the other one recommended before making a final decision. In we went to be greeted by a dynamic smiling professional young woman called Electra who was adept at her art, that being making you feel relaxed and welcome, a truly charming young woman. The restaurant was very busy, we were shown to our table for two in a cosy part of the room. Service was prompt, the wine was excellent, the food was delicious the price was incredibly reasonable…..I do not want to say cheap as it conjures up the wrong image, but I would have happily paid more for the meal and still felt that the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. It's so simple really for restaurants to get it right. Do not be pretentious, do not try to be something you are not, do not charge ridiculous prices, and be pleasant to your clients, and pleasant doesn't mean fawning and being subservient, or worse patronising, it means just be yourself and offer a fair deal for a fair package, works every time. I highly recommend this lovely eatery.

Good, honest food!

Located in Pollein, Val d'Aosta - closed Thursdays. A busy local eatery, at the rear of an unassuming bar. Great Pizzeria - lots of locals picking up take-away pizza (always a good sign!). Other specialties including local produce, seafood, fresh salads, some great local wine selections; the place gets pretty busy with local custom so best to book a table, particularly later on in the week. Prices are very reasonable and portions generous. Located on Pollein's main road, Locanda Capoluogo.

At the top of Colle S. Carlo returning from the walk to see the magnificent Lake Arpy, you can not stop at the Genzianella. Polenta and sausages and more. All very good, but graceful and exquisite courtesy of the young staff and the owner, make it more good and pleasant. Orders in and out, to eat in the green al fresco. Behind the structure, also quiet green area. Only problem on certain days parking.
