This is a great restaurant - mainly frequented by the locals - and so I enjoyed the authentic Thai as a Foreigner. The team are kind, the service is good, the time for waiting is short - and the food is great.

For me it is average taste. If you like original taste of Somtum (as Northeast of Thailand), this restaurant is not the right one. But if you are city guy or foreigner , you will like it. However, the food is fresh and healthy. Place...and service are good.More
We found ourselves back at Baan Somtum after a year lapse and found the place to be much more positive. Staff attitude improved and food improved, although we still weren't impressed with the chicken wings (undercooked and rather tasteless). The atmosphere on the river is...pleasant but be sure to get a table away from the smelly canal/sewer/drain! Prices are very reasonable. This is kind of a "3 and a half" type of place, but since we rated three for previous visit, we'll be generous this time.More
Close to the Bangsri muang intersection a great Thai/Isaan restaurant in a very modern style. Atmosphere is friendly and prices are very reasonable for the high quality of food the serve
Ban Som Tum is recommended for who that would like Thai traditional Som Tum taste , clean and other Thai traditional menu and good service from stuff .
it' my fev place for E-san foods, high standard of food quality and hygiene which compare to other SomTum restaurant. I like Tum Thai with a lot of chili and grill beef or some of deep fried mushroom or sweetcorn. For me, it' high recomment...for family, friend in causal atmosphere. It can be full on weekend so call them first for secure.More
We were taken to this restaurant by lovely locals, so they did the ordering (though the menu is also in English) and talking to the staff so I can not really comment on the service, but they were efficient and seemed friendly. The food came...out in good time also. The food was very good, and had a selection of traditional Thai dishes as well as modern Thai. My favourite would be the corn somtum.More
My wife and I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to locate this restaurant, searching maps, calling the restaurant (not particularly helpful), and finally just driving to the general area and asking locals who eventually pointed us to the right place. We arrived about...8:45 p.m. and it seems we pained the staff to think of serving us at such hours. They did, however, seat us and take our order. Maybe because they were in a hurry to close, the food was served very quickly. We were pleased to see pomelo salad on the menu, but it wa prepared differently than we'd seen anywhere else and not really to our taste. The fried sea bass was rather tasteless, as was the green mango sauce accompanying. The much-vaunted fried chicken was nothing to get excited about. Grilled pork was perhaps the best of the offerings. The staff continued to make it clear that they were eager to close and leave... not the friendliest of atmospheres for dining. All-in-all, a decent place. But, considering the relatively remote location, unexciting menu, and less-than-warm treatment by the staff, I doubt we will return.More
Happy to visit this place while driving a bit out of town, all dishes we ate were lovely prepared at good taste not talking about the reasonable prices which made it possible to continue eating! The river view, the pleasant atmosphere and the friendly service...let us enjoy every minute! Thanks to everyone we will be back!More
This was a great restaurant for an evening meal on a balmy July night, on the river. Great food, a bit spicy but that's OK for me. Chicken wings, and deep fried fish were great. Watched some sales from a small boat with a BBQ...to the diners - squid and sish - looked good but not tempted. RecommendedMore
