First the location - there's not a single inch you can go towards thrissur. This is at naikanal junction, the place where mg road meet swaraj round Food - initially they started it as a pure vegetarian hotel but changed soon. But the good thing...for veggies is that the veg and non veg is clearly demarcated. Women empowerment is crucial for the society and with this restaurant the chef Sunitha and team has shown that any thing is possible. With this short span of time, with the quality of food, food court has won the tounges of mallus. Tips - you won't get mallus favourite maida porotta here.More

Have been reading about this food court for some time. This restaurant is fully managed by women and any food left over is taken home by the ladies working in the restaurant. There are two sections for Veg and Non veg and the standard offering...is a veg lunch. One needs to order non veg dishes separately. While the wife had veg lunch served on a plantain leaf, I ordered a fish fry and fish curry from the open kitchen. Unless you tell them in advance you will be served boiled rice. All dishes had the genuine Kerala taste and the fish both fry and curry were excellent. i wanted to try the roasted prawns but it had got over by 02:00 pm which I thought is a good sign. Overall, a very good experience on the first visit. Will definitely visit again. Foot note: the restaurant is not air conditioned and is pretty crowded during lunch time and the cost is very reasonable.More

We've been to this special place twice in our week in Thrissur and eaten on the two separate sides - the veg and non-veg. Both provided good food and a friendly helpful service. The veg option is served on banana leaves and very sensibly just...a small portion is dished out but the lovely servers come round time and again to offer more of everything. Very good quantities, very well-prepared and exceptional value. (And they provide spoons for these two westerners!)More

Sunday lunch experience. Awesome service. Mouth-watering kerala cuisines. Non-veg specials - must try. Restaurant is run by a group of women. Every customer is welcomed with a broad smile (not the kind of fake ones we experience while entering clothing show rooms). They make very...authentic local cuisines. I must confess, this one for me falls in the top 5 restaurants in the town serving local cuisines. You will definitely fall in love with the aroma the moment you enter. Value for money - super. The only problem is they don't have AC as of now. For everything else I would give 4 on 5.More

After my visit to vadakumnathan temple, I was looking for a place to have a cup of tea. Walking around the streets, I saw the board of this restaurent. Thought of giving it a try. As soon as I entered the restaurent the aroma of...local cuisines gave my taste buds a tingle. Ordered for kaapa and kanthari ( a local delicacy) which was delicious. There are other varieties of kerala cuisines which you will hardly find anywhere else. The restaurent is run by a group of ladies which I believe is a great initiative for them to be self dependent. My check was for 72 but since I didn't have the required change, the cashier with a smile replied, ' next time sir'. For anyone visiting kerala for the local food experience and if you happen to be in thrissur, please do visit the place. Its near to the vadakumnathan temple and you can see the restaurent hoarding from the main road.More
