A lovely gem in a beautiful little village.
We had Sunday lunch. Beef with all the trimmings.
The beef was amazing!!! Better than a expensive place nearer home in derby.
The staff were so friendly and the chef came out to explain how he cooked...the beef.
If we lived local I’d have Sunday lunch every week. The portions were very generous too.
Not photo because it went too quick.More
Looking for somewhere for lunch found this lovely pub. No problems getting a table. Service was excellent, my 3 friends and I received a genuine warm welcome on a very wet and windy day. The portions were very generous, served hot and tasty. Look forward...to returning again soon.
Sadly our teas and coffee were luke warm, but we were thirsty and drank them anyway.More
Thoroughly enjoyed our takeaway dinner.. Burger with blue cheese n chips and scampi n chips with onion rings and garlic bread.. All piping hot! Staying at Chew Valley caravan site 5 mins away!
Definitely would return
Gluten free heaven! My wife has a gluten intolerance which often creates a problem eating out. I phoned ahead of our booking to confirm the GF availability as the online menu suggested this was limited.
There is a specials board and the chef is more...than happy adapt to most requirements.
The pork belly just melted in my mouth, amazing! And great beer and wine too.
Great friendly service. We’ll be back again.More
Whilst away just for a few nights, discovered this little gem! An extremely friendly pub with exceptional, attentive staff. Sunday roast was delicious. All COVID-19 requirements upheld. Would highly recommend!
My wife and I were in Chew Valley for one night on our way from Scotland to Cornwall and this was the nearest place to our overnight stay.
First impressions could be a bit off-putting, there was a fair sized marquee outside the front housing...the smokers and it was packed and noisy.
Covid precautions as we enterered were compliant, and the staff pleasant, even though most simple questions about food and drink seemed to baffle them, like they'd all just started working there that evening and had to go and ask advice.
The landlord introduced himself by attempting to clear away my wife's Bacardi glass before she'd had a chance to put the can of coke in it, presumably because he thought it was empty but compounded by it being his birthday and he was rather, erm, 'happy as a newt'! Thing was, he'd stuck his finger right inside the glass when he attempted to lift it.
Table service from nice staff, even though - as previously noted - they were a little lacking in knowledge.
They advertise takeaway food as well as a main menu, but everything stops at 8pm which is a shame because I reckon they'd make a fortune at the Covid chucking out time of 10pm, with people going away home with the munchies.
Friendly locals, friendly staff, friendly landlord, what's not to like?More
